If there is any Pics of The Pink SMP V8 at Harry Firth HDT HQ or Holden Skunk Works,Its up to Holden or HDT to Unleash them,i have asked Holden on there Facebook Site,They said they will check there Secret Squirrel Archives and put on there FB Site, but as i type this has not happened,or there is none. ???????????

You would think there be Pics of the GMH SMP V8 LJ XU-1,as Pics of Joe Felice Lone o Ranger Car has Surfaced,We need Holden to unleash a Pic or Harry Firth if they have any of the Pink Beasty,We know the Pink car was at HDT HQ at some stage in 1972 hence Ian Tate Comments in A.M.C Mag issue 9,XU-1 V8 Story.

Three pink V8s was rumour and innuendo, but it's good to see the rego details for the known one are there - would be great if it turns out the rego continued after the supposed crash tests........

There should be some pics in Harry's vault taken by HDT of the shop one would assume.....
It's not like it would hide in a corner. Unless it was parked on the street :D

post-7283-12604305075382.jpg

I own some HDT HQ Workshop Pics,The pics were all taken in October 1972,this Workshop pic, you can see in the Top Right Hand Corner The Yellow LC HDT V8 Prototype (KSN.116)and if you look through the Door Way to the left of the Yellow LC HDT Car,there is a XU-1 Torana parked there,Could it be the GMH SMP LJ XU-1 V8 Prototype ????
By the look of the Yellow LC HDT V8 Prototype,it doesnt look to be a goer and in A.M.C Mag issue 9 V8 XU-1 Story on Page 61, Harry says he was driving the Yellow LC HDT V8 as his Personal Transport at the end of 72.
So from Robbo Wheels Magazine Feb. 1973 Story there was a Actual V8 Prototype at HDT HQ and Ian Tate said Pink Car was at HDT HQ.
The V8 Test at Calder with the SMP V8 LJ XU-1 was done on the 31/5/1972 this is where Brocky drove the SMP Beast and Bondy drove the 6Cyl HDT LJ XU-1 Race car,and the SMP Car was not Handling that well, they went back to HDT HQ that night and took the Suspension(Coils&Shocks)out of the yellow LC HDT V8 to put in the SMP Beast and went back to calder the next day and the SMP Beast was Seconds Faster than the 6Cyl HDT LJ XU-1 at Calder

The yellow is the ex-Bond racecar, so it would have been kept as it had logbooks and history.

In to days Mail,i got a Letter from Vic Roads,Dated 22/12/2009
That my request under the Freedom of Information Act for Vic Rego Number LEX.900.
Been My Request for the Vic Police First Application for Registration of a Motor car, (LEX.900)
That my Request is bing processed,so hopefuly it will arrive soon,i did a Requst for the Joe Felice Lone O Ranger,First Application for Rego as well, why i was at it,The Lady i spoke to on the phone this morning at Vic Roads said that if LEX.900 was first owned by GMH they will leave the Owners name (GMH) not Scrubbed out as GMH is not a Pvt Owner,As the Rego will be GMH and for Example not Joe Bloggs,Down the road Street Etc Etc.
So it will be ok not to Srubb it out,So Hopefuly LEX.900 will come up as a Pink colour on the First rego Paper,as we know its a LJ XU-1 from my past Phone Call to Vic Roads,in them Saying it was a 1972 Holden, with the Engine Number starting with JP.
So we will wait to see when it arrives.

Once it arrives, and it is Pink and if GMH is the First Owner i will do a A.O.M.C Check on it,from its original engine number as well.
I told the Vic Roads Freedom of Information place i was doing History info on the GMH V8 LJ XU-1 Prototypes,as i sent them some info to look at,so they know why im chasing there history, plus i told them that GMH said they were all killed off by Holden,But Joe felice Orange prototype wasent, and i told her that i Believe that the Pink car might not of been destroyed as well, and thats what im trying to work out if it had been Destroyed or not.
So the History i sent her,she could read it and get a idea of the Pink and Orange Car history.
It depends when GMH Destoryed pink car,as if it was Rego in 1972,then it had Rego to 1973,Joe Felice Orange Car was at GMH in 1974 as per pic of Joe Orange Car at Phillip Island in 1974,and Joe got a White LH SLR5000 to replace the Orange Beast,so would the Pink Car of been around to 1974 as well ?????????

My Guess is that the 72 vehicle was the SMP suggested and retained LEX 900 during the 70'S and perhaps beyond ...time will tell but I'm sure the information that's archived will prove this to be the case

From a Couple of Pics i have seen, someone from HDT or Holden had the SMP LJ XU-1 V8 Prototype at the 1972 Bathurst Race and 1973 Bathurst Race.
There a Pic on the Old Race Photos web site, its when Peter Brock drove back into the Pits area after Winning the 1972 Bathurst, He Pulls up where the HDT Pits Spot was,he just got out of the 1972 HDT LJ XU-1 (28C Car) and he standing next to Ian Tate and there is other HDT Boys there and Heaps of Officials wearing White Overalls with Black and White Bathurst 500 Baseball type hats on,But in between Ian Tate&Peter Brock there a SMP Car in the Background,if there wasent so many Officials and people around you would see it better,So did Harry Firth drive the SMP V8 Prototype to the 1972 Bathurst Race ???.
Joe Felice Lone o Ranger V8 Prototype was first Vic Rego in Sept 1972,and the 1972 Bathurst race was on Sunday 1/10/1972 But you would think Joe would of Drove the Orange car to the 1972 Bathurst race, and there is Pics of joe orange car in the Pits Paddock in 1973 Bathurst Weekend.
There a Pic of Joe car parked in the workshop at Bathurst Motors in 1973,The 73 Bathurst Weekend and if you Look through Joe Orange LJ Front Window through to Rear Window there is a SMP LJ XU-1 Parked behind Joe Orange car,Now if this is the SMP V8 Prototype parked behind Joe car, which i Believe it is,then the SMP LJ XU-1 V8 Prototype was still around to Sept-Oct 1973 at that stage.

There is a 6/72 SMP in Perth or at least there use to be. Here's how the story goes:-

Seems like just the other day I looked at a 6/72 LJ XU1 "unfinished project" which was advertised in the W.A. weekend classified. I made the phone call, got the details and went over to check the car out all in 5 minutes, as it was literally one suburb away. The car had been painted blue at some stage but it was complete (except CD175's), just unlicensed. So I made an offer and got a handshake and nod from the seller.
As the seller went into his house to collect paperwork, others arrived to view the car. One of the guys who arrived took one look at the car and with little hesitation intercepted the seller before he had the paperwork for me. At this stage I was busy noting down body number, VIN number, id plate details, etc. Next minute the seller was back telling me the deal was off - better offer from the other guy @%+!*.
Dazed and confused I left, but the worst was yet to come! I followed up on the vehicle ID, including the paint code: PAINT:568-13891

I still remember the car vividly.wouldn't you if you missed out on a SMP XU1 for 3K!. crybaby.gif

PS: I still have the VIN details, etc

Mustard GTR
sent me a PM Listing the SMP LJ XU-1 Details, and asked me to Post its Vin etc

It has once again come up that some are wondering how many Strike Me Pink XU-1s were built, and how many have survived the ravages of time.

I thought that it would be worthwhile to start a SMP Register (which may carry on to other collectable cars) to see what we can achieve.

If anyone has a list of those XU-1s built in SMP, by VIN perhaps we can start to account for those that exist.

All cars will need to be confirmed by someone - eg. you've seen one local, but never been able to look it over and check it out - unconfirmed. I have three very good friends with SMP cars but have only ever seen one of them - thus I could only confirm the one.
You cannot confirm your own car - you know who you are! :P

Lets start it like this, and adjust as required. No full owner names or precise locations please. We came up with 30 built and nine left before if I remember rightly.

Cars builtmonth/year VIN

1 x South of Sydney - 6/72, VIN................... confirmed by: 82911
1 x Sydney - VIN...................... confirmed by: enderwigginau
1 x Northside Brisbane - VIN............................ confirmed by: unconfirmed
(Yes, but until we actually see it driving to T/fest :P )
1 x London - VIN............................... confirmed by: Miss Pinky
1 x Cairns - Rego: PWH-161, VIN: 82911JH221723, prod: 25.01.72 & stamped 1/72. confirmed by: GML-31
1 x Melb under resto - 6/72, VIN..................... confirmed: unconfirmed at this time
1 x NZ (Ex-QLD), delete rear spoiler - VIN.......................confirmed:rorym
1 x Perth, 6/72 VIN.............................confirmed: not fully confirmed but exists.
1 x Auckland (ex Aus 73) 1/72 Vin 82911JL...254, can be confrimed by Dave Johnson GTRXU1 Club NZ

Theres a LJ S listed on carsales as a factory SMP car. No idea if it is genuine or not. Car is Adelaide. Pictures almost make it look PurrPull, but could be the real deal

http://www.carsales....id=125FE9D9D616

EDIT: maybe the listing has been changed, but i though it orginally said a factory pink car...

The Dragstrip SMP LJ XU-1 from the 1990's its Vic Rego Number Looks to be PZD.092.
I remember Aldo telling me there was a SMP LJ XU-1 that used to Drag Race this Car might be it.

This SMP LJ XU-1 was in the Summernats in 1990's,its NSW Rego Number is PMM.482
post-7283-12633773907237.jpg

This SMP LJ GTR was for sale in Melbourne Victoria and the Purple LJ XU-1,they were together for sale in 1990's,Maybe the SMP GTR is the one that went to Brisbane from Victoria in 2002 Etc.

Someone might remember these Cars and help with information to the SMP Registar

It had a 308 v8 and Monaro Wheels, dose any one know about this SMP LJ,by look of the Pics of it,James might of been in a Torana Car Club, the Pics are from the 1990's.post-7283-1263784758887.jpg
