Hi, this is a project that i have been working on for about the past 12 months, it's turned into a but of a monster. The plan was to drop in a RB30 with a small turbo, jatco 4 speed and a 9".
But it couldn't be that easy. This is what i started with, a 3rd owner total original 1976 SL LX hatch. (Hope i do these photos right, not good with computers better with hammers)

To start i thought i would just buy the CRS engine mounts and sump but after finding out they only use 6 cyl mounts i decided to make my own using V8 mounts then make a sump.

For now it will stay how it looks, spent way to much on the running gear. A quick run down on what it's got.

JPC built RB30
Custom built Garrett GT40R
KEAS 2 speed powerglide with trans brake
9" strange centre with detroit locker
35 spline moser axles
VIPEC v88 ecu

And a hole lot of other goodies.

The sump, used a RB30 nissan patrol sump with a few mods.

Cut the bottom off and nocked and a bit of a wing keel.

Now holds about 7.5 litres is also baffles and has gates to stop oil surge.

Very nice conversion, sump is neat, looks like the original one didn't have a whole lot of volume.

Taking it out to Heathcote soon?

The patrol sumps hang down more, it would have been about 3" below the cross member. Need to get it tuned, engineered then rego before i take it to Heathcote.

Not going yet, hopefully get it down to JPC in the next few weeks and get it tuned.

Cool ! i like it....that driveline sounds like a great combo, those JPC plenums are huge! :bowdown:

That car will fly for sure, what size stall and final drive ratio have you gone for ?



Are you going to paint the cooler black for a bit more stealth ?

mumstaxi the intercooler doesn't stand out to much, the stall is about 4000 and the diff ratio is 3.25, should be some good top end speed.

Its the first thing a lot of people look for these days, but if you have a huge tail pipe hanging out the bum, that may give the game away first anyway.




Those pipes look great mate,so much nicer than mine (still have all the ugly welds on mine)

Now the intercooler, just can't buy something off the shelf that would be to easy. So start with a 600x300390 core and make it fit.

One tank end. Made from 4mm aluminium and tried to radius the corners to help with flow.

I hope so to. When i spoke to the engineer he didn't sound to worried, it is also easier because of the build date 2/1976 and only has ADR 27.

Also the RB30 is out of a nissan patrol which used a carburettor and didn't run a cat exahust. Just a little bit of a loop hole to use.
