I 've been flat out working for "the man" and Tinkering with hatch in the spare time and not checking the forums sorry.

Will get onto that ASAP.
Cheers...

Hello Les and crew.

Just fitted new front and rear windscreen seals and mylar strips to my LX Sedan.

The front mylar kit did not have locking corners and the rear mylar kit locking tabs are a shocking fit. ( Actually didn't fit ).

I know these have been a point of discussion for a while, any changes happening? especially in reference to the locking tabs.

Hi Rare Spares. I have a small length of left over NOS mylar locking strip that I can give you guys if you want to use it to make reproduction stuff that fits?

Is there supposed to be a price differance to "our GMH store" and the online rare spares site? I always thought we got a bit of a discount?

The discount is given to the forum to help with running cost.

So you pay the same amount people, it just means Les makes less when he gives a donation from every sale.

Thats fair I think. As long as it is going somewhere worthwhile. I think the work they do is great.

Les,

Hi

I posted the following in the "Interior Forum";

Wanting to refurb some seat belts, re-chrome etc and replace the "GM PRESS" badge.

Went to Rare Spares and bought their reproduction and when I got home and compared it to the original can only say that I was seriously disappointed, and that there is no way I would consider putting it on my car.

To make it worse it is sold as a Holden Restoration Part, and therefore has some type of agreement from GMH that these are acceptable.

Winge over...Question is are there any repros out there that come closer to what the badge should be.

Honestly, these are seriously horrible.  They are just a sticker, not anywhere near the aluminium pressed that is in the actual seatbelt.

Kinda lets the Rare Spares concept down....no way you could call these spare parts.

BTW The card has part number SBD1000 with a date of 22/06/12.

Sorry about the "pissed off" note to the thread, whilst I am happy to pay the premium prices you guys charge in order to keep the "dream alive", I do expect that if I pay that premium I get some sort of quality (and in this case it was not!).

I am sorry you are not happy with the product ,I am not all that familiar with this part, I had
thought it may have been the shape that was a problem, from what you say the finish is not up to par.
I will put in a report on it tomorrow in the mean time if you are not happy
please take it back to where you purchased it for a refund

Les

Hi Les,

seems that we are jumping from one thread to another.

I guess what has annoyed me is that there is a Seat Belt Decal Kit (SBD 1000) for sale, both online and in store.....and  apart from the similarity in its printing it has no real restoration value at all.

Perhaps the guys that works in the franchise I attend, and purchase from, should advise that fact.

Anyway, once again, I have appreciated your response.

Cheers.

Yeah I've had those. They are raised aluminum type. They were the wrong shape for my buckles however....

I have had this decal checked and it is correct it would
appear that you did in fact purchase the wrong one I do not believe there will
be a problem to change them over for the correct ones

From what I have been told there was a variety of seat belts used in Holden's  over the years and it
is hard to pin down what was in what at any particular time.

Les

OK, thanks for that. I was worried there may have been a manufacturing defect or something.... As I had only just bought one last year some time.

Cool.

Cheers.
