Hey guys,

I want to set my car up without a brake booster. Anyone here that can let me know what I need to do for setup?

Presume I need to remove booster and lines that run to the proportioning valve.

Make a bracket to fit to the booster mount.

Purchase two master cylinders (size?) and balance bar (type?)

Plumb lines to new master cylinders.

If anyone has done this before and can explain in a bit more detail what is required it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

I run a Keith Croft balance bar in my IP car, I still utilise all normal mounting positions and pedal positions. Pretty much as you anticipate with your own nought on installation. Sometimes you have to play around with master cylinder sizes to find what works right for you. Obviously needs some adjustment to your liking once in, but it works fine for me and has worked well for many nc toranas in the past. It mounts to the firewall with a flat plate and the rod passes through the back.

BTW I was wondering what are people's thoughts on the best tyre and or tyre combination on a group nc car. I've seen people running split combinations front to rear, Toyo and then Yokohama vice versa. Anybody have thoughts experience on it ??

Great thanks for the info Chris.

I have seen a few balance bars on VPW and ebay. will just do a bit of research into which ones are decent. Pretty big variation in price.

Two question.

Is there a reason guys don't run the Wilwood with no booster master cylinder setup in group nc cars? cant see anything in the rules against it.

I also cant see any restrictions with the exhaust setup, eg decibel levels or muffler requirements? can only see that the side pipe needs to be mounted so that it sits behind the front doors by "X" millimieters.

So just a straight pipe out the side is fine?

Hi...I think CAMS General Requirements for Automobiles, section B, clause whatever says...
be configured such that the sound emitted when measured 30m from the track edge does not exceed
95dB(A) unless event regulations set a lower limit.

Thus 95 is the magic number.

p.s..my track LJ runs Genie extractors straight into a side pipe. There is a "lump" in the exhaust, but I think it is there to look like a muffler. Never had a drama at a track. ( Hillclimb, Supersprint,Regularity, Challenge Bathurst etc). Not Nc.
Waaaay to loud for street use though.
