Hey guys long time no speak.
Well went to Pickles and bought myself a VY/VZ?? Senator. It has no seats in it but im willing to sell everything I can except the motor, gearbox and computer/loom as I obviously need that for the WB Stato
Ill put this on the sell section but thought I would post here too as this was where it all started.

I've been told, keep the doner car until you have your project running, hate to later go out a buy that little part you had.

Thanks. Good point.
I want to use factory computer. I was told there may be issues with factory cmputer because of anti theft system. Apparently theres a way around this with factory computer?? Anyone know?

Factory computers a good thing you just need to get the VATS security system and torque management deleted and get it setup at same time for the diff gears and tyre height you will run. A lot of places also reset the temperature the thermo fans kick to kick in a bit earlier. Heaps of places can do it I used P.S.I systems in the states they can supply nearly everything for LS conversions and it's pretty cheap to send your Ecu to them and they tune it and send back. Just my experience I'm sure there are places in OZ that can do same.... Good luck with it you won't regret it

Before I rip everything out the car, Is there any way of starting it without the key? Key was lost unfortunately. I don't think a screw driver will do the trick like the old school ignition systems.

If you go to holden with the VIN you can get one made. Cost a hundred odd though.

We used the commodore ignition on the race car. So the key was handy.

Great stuff Bart. If you use the Senators stereo, I wonder if you could incorporate the parking sensors?

Im not sure mate, i got the stereo, cd stacker and built in GPS stuff but the sensors went with the bumbers i just sold.

Different subject, I was thinking of refreshing the engine and box. Can anyone reccomend any rebuild kits? Just keeping it pretty standard.

I found these. Any good?

Don't forget if you're buying a rebuild kit for your ls1 which looks to be vy that you will need 2002 onwards parts wise some things are slightly different the vy vz had better pistons from factory so I'd just buy a decent brand kit, rings, bearings, gaskets from eBay USA & you will need new head bolts as they are torque to yield ie single use only. Put a mellings type oil pump in to. If the engine oil was changed regularly & the inside of the rocker covers was clean you could just use it as is. If you are going to rebuild the engine I would put a ebay comp cam kit in it but this will need tuning so ad $1000 but the more horsepower & torque is just great & with some diff gears they drive well. I have a cammed ls1 that gets 9l/100 on the highway & is a little thirsty around town. & a standard ls1 clubsport which gives 10.5 to 11 on the highway & better in town but the cammed 1 has almost 400 rwhp does a 12 on 20's & is easy enough to drive my missus has driven it with no problems both are 6 speed. The ls1 has some excellent parts from factory. They are a very reliable engine when serviced regularly i use liqui moly 10 40 oil about 5.6 litre per change instead of the normal 5.1 because they oil level sender light can come on with acceleration on some cars, this is a common practice. & use a good oil filter you should get 300,000 klms easy out of that engine standard with no dramas, all depends on what you want, but if you rebuild & cam expect to pay 5 grand all up roughly. Or do it down the track when you have more dollars. Gary.

Hi mate, can you please post a list & photos of the parts left over from the swap from the senator you're not going to use as i might want some of them please Gary? and if you get on comp cams website you can pick a cam from there it tells you everything about it + the valve train matching parts super easy. Don't forget if the heads have 241 stamped near the front of right hand head, where it joins block they are cathedral port so you need a 3 bolt cam to suit them. I think the 281 lsr goes from 2,000 to 7,000 is all you need. Will need diff gears though + converter probably. I have the comp 228/230 in my ute i think by memory goes well. I'd buy the complete meet of eBay pretty cheap & are head bolts too ! Good luck with it, Gary.

Thanks for the tip
Yes they are 241 heads, its got extractors as well which is a nice bonus.
I will put up a list of parts.
The interior is suede tany creamy colour, quite nice; the whole time I thought what a damn shame to pull this apart it was such a nice car. Oh well being a write off not much point crying over it. The chassis at the front passenger corner has come back probably an inch or so as the passenger door gaps are tight. Passenger front suspension arm is broken. So the chassis could be fixed but don't know what the go is with having it pass as a registered vehicle/chassis.
So the interior has to go, door interior, glove box etc.
Brakes
Drivers door and glass
Drivers rear door no glass
Drivers front guard
Passenger door glass, doors no good.
CD stacker
Tail/brake lights
Strut brace, but may be tweaked??
Factory radio/CD
Built in GPS but im sure its out dated but someone may want it as it would be a good fit in a similar vehicle
Wheels with 3 good tires, one tyre average.
Boot lid
Sun roof
Suspension
Drive shafts
Brake booster
ABS module
Shell. I don't want to scrap the shell if someone thinks they can repair and register, would be such a waste to scrap.
