NSW only started recording chassis number in the late 80's or early 90's afaik. And only about half of the cars on the Service/Warranty reports have engine numbers recorded, a lot are incorrect too. As an example of the 150 list engine numbers only a certain number are recorded against cars, and of those 4 or 5 are incorrect - the only reason we know they are incorrect is because the 150 lists exists to tick them off. For all other cars you'd have no hope picking the error even if you knew. The errors came from a combination of:
The person at the dealership reading the engine number correctly.
Then writing it down against the PSN of the car, again getting both right.
Person at the GMH IBM terminal then reading the PSN correctly and entering the numbers right to open the record for that PSN.
Then reading the engine number right, and typing it in correctly.
Lots of scope for errors. Hence there are so many L's instead of R and T, digits missing (keystroke missed) hence a leading 0 added in the MSD spot.

Let me clarify this as simply as I can. Everyone was told no naming names, simple as that. I don't care if the guy said it was ok, and it's bigger than the forum. If you want to have a go at me fine, but he was warned more than once, and for good reason. It's bigger than just the forum and I have good reasons for it.
