And the timber board to mount the gauges. I just needed to smooth the surfaces to sandwich in the board...

Looks great mark! Simple yet effective way to mount them in and I love the tribute to the originality. Well done. Very tempting...

Thanks again Mark. I have a SL cluster with the housing in great condition but the gauges are shot so that is the perfect base. I will be giving this a go. Sounds quite doable with the timber. Great idea.

Cheers, it was pretty easy. Note the gauges just fit into the front casing openings with a little bit of notching but nothing a file cant fix. I went to the trouble of using the rear half of the cluster casing and also the original wire loom plug so I could plug in to the original vehicle wiring plug and not cut it off. After completing the job I thought it all would have been easier to add backing boards to the dash facia and mount the gauges direct, then toss the cluster casing completely. The Speedhut gauges are so light and thin I reckon this might have been the easier way to go, leaving heaps more room behind the facia.
