Hi, i just got a new heater core from rare spares and split the heater box open and found the new core is a lot thinner then the origional. I had a 2nd heater box (1 lx and 1 lh) and it is thicker than the new one too. The hose inlet and outlet look ok but the core is too thin. Anyone else had this or is the heater core wrong. While on the heater box i did a search and there has never been a definative answer on the best foam/covering for the flap doors.
Cheers

Yep. I bought one years ago, 2007-2008, & never used it because it was too thin.

Have done some.months ago. No change, still selling the wrong unit.
Only supplying the one with same size pipes. Earlier type had different pipe sizes.

mika03au, due to your input we recognized initially we had an issue with regard to the description of our heater core #9939234, we have amended description some time ago to read 'LX UC WITH 2 X 5/8" PIPES'. We have tested our heater core in a heater box/car and you will be interested to know that the GMH drawing for this part does not denote any core thickness but only a performance requirement, it also states outlet pipe dimensional requirements. Due to the new technology available we believe our heater core has the same performance or better than the original cores though it has a thinner core which is concealed within the box.

The LH type is not listed on the GMH drawing we have however we do have an original sample in hand of this and we will likely consider reproducing in the future.

Cheers Edan, the thickness of the core is somewhat important as it allows it to be secured in place by the heater box.
With the thinner core it is the heater hoses which hold the core secure in place.
Hope that explanation makes sense?
Also I think the pre ADR27a (LH and early LX) have the two different diameter pipes.
I hadn't checked the RSP site for any changes so good to see the clarification.

Sheesh...i don't know..we should at least think our selves lucky that there is something available that will do the job..even if we need to use a little Aussie initiative to make it work despite what is involved in doing the job...the days of just getting one "off the shelf" are long gone.

:)
