What's this bracket?

It doesn't look like the Rare Spares console bracket
It's located pretty much in line with the front seatbelt bolt holes
The car has no bracket in front of the shifter hole and as far as I know this car didn't come with a console so I'm a little puzzled by it.

I've been playing with LH/LX Toranas since the mid 80's and I haven't seen one of them before. I'm interested to know too

HQ console and seat separator rear bracket. How early is the Torana? Is there a screw hole up near the plastic bung in the crossmember behind the shifter? or 2 x holes just forward of the shifter hole?

t's a 74 LH. The rear bracket for a seat separator looks like the one for the standard console, at least the Torana one does. Maybe the HQ ones were different though.

There were holes everywhere left by the butcher, I mean last owner. I'm not sure if any of them were factory though.

HJ-WB use the same bracket as Torana but what you have is a HQ seat separator or console bracket. The reason I asked how early it was, was I was thinking maybe really early LH used a HQ console.

I can PM you the chassis number, looks like it's very early.

I read only recently that early production LH Torana had a different console and mounting brackets compared to the later production vehicles.
Apparently the early and later consoles are not interchangeable. The article went on to say the mounting brackets had to be replaced to fit the later console in an early production body.

I can't remember ever seeing one of these consoles before.
The lid flips forward. How odd

O.K., I think we have a winner. Looking at the holes that were in the trans tunnel -->
They seem to match up with the full HQ console -->
So I need to get one of these -->
The only thing is I've read that Torana consoles have a different bottom profile to the big Holden ones so I wonder if the HQ tunnel is the same profile as Torana or if early LH Torana is the same profile as HQ.

No the lid flips back. The ashtray in the end is for the rear seat passengers.
That will be the HQ seat separator console Byron was talking about.

Ah, I was looking at a pic of the mount points for the short console all wrong. That seals it then, this car came with the HQ 4 speed console. Now to find one at a reasonable price.

Whether it fits or not I don't know, would have to try. That one you put up there is a 1973-4 HQ console. The seat separator is an early one as it has the seat belt buckle holder (later HQ's had retractables).
Not sure if it is original to the car or not. Just ask a few early LH owners, like 4/74-ish. But it does look like what was in the car at some stage.
