Very interesting this Red LJ GTR 308 V8 from very early 1974

Its at Gregorys Car Yard in Mort street Braddon ACT and Braddon is close to Canberra's CBD.

One Ad says rego to Oct 1974, so Rego start in Oct 1973 going off that, any one from Canberra recall seeing this Red LJ GTR 308 V8 Torana.

Wow, what's a Ford dealer (well his second hand yard) doing with a "brand new" LJ 308 registered in Oct '73.

perhaps it had something to do with Greg Cusack jr's race/Rally connections.

IIRC I have seen somewhere photos of the "red" Canberra LJ 308.

Yes, poetic licence of the "used car"salesman,    hard to believe it was new as in "0" k's.   Red LJ GTR 308 I think it was a photo car sales ad, canberra /LJ/308/red

don't know if I took a copy of the ad but remember the photo (B/W) I will search,  its yours "if" I find it.

Cheers

Al,

I found this on Turnpike Orange: http://www.gmh-toran...nge-paint-code/ (Post #7 by gm3300)

"Some other LC era orange colours are, Sebring Orange, Indy Orange and there's a listing for Turnpike Orange (Bedford Trucks), which has the same ident number as the '73 colour Tangerine(12692)".

Could this car be a LC with a V8 fitted or are you thinking LJ?

Cheers, TB

Hard to say if its a LC or LJ as the pic in the Ad is lousy lol, Canberra ACT didnt mind doing rego's on them in the Early 1970's :P

Remember reading feature article about red lj gtr v8 from ACT in streetmachine or some mag was reportedly one of earliest v8 cars on database.

If you can track article down might get plates off it...vaguely remember it as 80's magazine.

There is this 308 LJ XU1 V8 that was in Canberra in 1974, but due to Canberra RTA dont abide by FOI Request, well more excuses for there Lazyness to go look in there Archives (Oh the Microfiche machine btoke dowm, ummmm Ebay sell old ones i told them and oh the stuff cant be read now, ummmm yeah right)  A Polly might need to kick the ACT RTA Butt and get them inline on the FOI ACT.

As i would of done a FOI Request on this ACT rego number. Attached File  bills torana in mag.jpg   259K   4 downloads

There was this LJ V8 Torana that i think you are thinking about that was in a 1983 Street Machine Magazine that was from South Australia  Attached File  Frank Ceravolo 4.jpg   49.85K   3 downloads
