Played with the flares for 2hr on Sat and Sunday.
Still need a little bit more work but they are very close.
Finally cut them open.
Used a Stanley blade to cut the fill where I packed it with paper. Was a bit worried I'd stuff it up but it worked a treat.
Lining up awesome.
Plan to take them off now and finish sanding where needed around bolt holes etc.
Plan to paint them with the left over epoxy I have to seal down the body work then I'll re fit them and hopefully that's it9ddb08f3cfba8ceaef351320afaad4c9.jpg524c21822a5ce3ad777441cffe5f4377.jpgdc2001a8ee74bc0de233c8e6d4ea973d.jpg25058775ad6d3f916b479729d2fdcdf6.jpg3553b928a394f21ef101b7a11d1fc746.jpgd5f48bee5e4447d7474bce1241677f8b.jpgff76d1e13a55c5e7bf1c5625d967f41f.jpg

Also played with the front spoiler I unscrewed the front flare and spoiler then screwed the spoiler bottom up then re affixed in the same holes.
All went back in same location pretty easily.
Now it's only hanging down the thickness of the fibreglass.
Happy with that now.
I'm not planning to start fibreglassing the flare bottom edge to line up with the spoiler

I think that looks great.

That front spoiler is fitting together a bit better than mine, I would say.

The flare looks excellent, the only bad bit is that they tend to move around once they're heat cycled over time... they don't stay as good as you get them when you're building the car.

Looks great Mitch, it's worth all that fluffing about.

Cheers bud.
They better not move FMD haha.
I like how they are now sitting a little wider than the standard L34 flares but not as wide as the A9X ones.
That dolphin glaze is good stuff for finer detailing

Don't worry Ive still going hard.at it.
Car is finally in the paint shop
Went there start of March
Body being painted today
All panels next week
Engine bay sills etc already done.
I got dicked around by another painter for over 12months which was really upsetting.
Motors finished and dynod.
Been doing heaps and haven't given up hope yet hahaa.
I got a new phone about a year ago and been to lazy to get photos from my old one so I can post on here.
I'll load up some pics soon of the progress.
Cheers

Motor update.
Motor finished before the car due to dick head paint shop.
355 come racing bottom end kit.
Race girdle installed.
All machined grout filled etc
Mods done to high volume oil pump.
Torque power high rise manifold
Edelbrock performer heads all new Esky springs etc.
All been machined and port matches etc.
New Yella terra roller rockers etc
Dyno tuned with a 750 carb and made 520hp and 460ft torque
They said it will go about 550 if they tweaked it etc but no point in doing more power pulls as I'm using the Holley sniper set up.
Love the finished product
Can't wait to drive it
Hopefully by Chrissy 02df7aac2f174cb3ecdf440db5ec79a9.jpgf30e673a565fa696442d12be9893616c.jpg87f4d3b5df6ecac16aba503dc3545de1.jpg8962beb24921009272dcddbba93f4589.jpg9add8814763f69538d5a54f8924e353e.jpg9648bac3168888d92112185554a6dfca.jpgb2d27454de33d8b7bc14e7b6816d0998.jpge5d87b9a4f8eec4a776a106c5925662d.jpg4990d7ba1681c3a62f5b4e3bf16cf91a.jpg1f0650ef1350dcf86bd1f9d9f6a47f4c.jpg9197fa01dc22235dac368c74974ee1a4.jpgbde5aff654f0fe5037ba100bc12b7af1.jpge61d65a430e6da656b1cbd41b72db545.jpg70fd13740ffbb2e8431f3b23bf6728e3.jpgfe00ccb02734ab0c2d46f3e75f193366.jpg1c245d564505018acbd307429b2db03c.jpg887ce1f569aaf4ea8495ef0a36547319.jpgee23473c91cf3537f123b6dcfe273fa8.jpg25117acab7f837f614b57ff19800c9f3.jpg0755c7b24eed9be01d72764c1d803360.jpg385b47a57e2eb0020dd4e9d6f98e5a9d.jpg67de4cdb2da2488a49866d2f5f49e62b.jpgf1792a5096f3c57f34b6a637f620bf68.jpgb2e0bb8e375c551ec4fd3524d5682fad.jpge6a9ddfe4593f243304c8e6d51e62ceb.jpg3d8d0a88fbfba4f46ae6380b54eda524.jpgba1de9f89bf640a3143c0beb57e18b6a.jpg9e85e60ab114af21221bae10867e892c.jpg59c558fac2a6bd2337e411f211265627.jpge1e38bb0aa554e7b4c465c807f95179f.jpg32e474282b2b5e988d256d6acd40845f.jpgc7aeea5d0d06d7fc3d8ea071366c57c6.jpgfdac12f9d613af9659c1a248ea3428de.jpg23e70e3eeccf0ed644d99e58d5e9de5b.jpg7fc1b3751cb1c9e741e9b6b75dee70ab.jpg34b4fc72e4e7e4b1dddbcbf33507940c.jpg8f61c323e0ce1ad2a89127548ed419c8.jpgce73b9b73ad93ca9c0e4cefe6ad76fe1.jpgfeb36fbc462da033f18a7ff038408974.jpg0ef84abb4efd2774cdb13263f9cd7c1a.jpghttps://uploads.tapa...e7a81d08861.jpg

Finally played with the cluster again.
Purchased Heath's 3 d printed attachments and backing plate.
Thanks again mate looks awesome.
OCD kicked in and I ended up using dolphin glaze to hide the join in them and sanded every night for about a month hahaa to make it smooth and have no finger prints left.
Painted them up with some flat black
I've attempted to save my old lenses but they are too scratched
Just ordered some brand new replacements from old skool auto parts for 60 bucks hope they are good when they get here.
I plan to never sand them again haha7275db8e3d22993787d4916d927f56b5.jpg224125f0a0b6d7109872382a1efac7a2.jpgebfb7b5d5f2657f0bd19709a18f6763f.jpg86d49d5db32d6fe680bd74bea56387b0.jpgc5f7fcd2473f8dfb3feabc8886c7b643.jpg5e8d88f8d2bc1cbb17c6c997a43f9df6.jpg

Exciting day at the start of March
The beast finally got picked up from the tow truck to go to the paint shop.
Long time coming - 5-6 years in the making.
The other painter took my whole body kit had it for over 12 months, painted one flare as you can see and didn't even fill little imperfections in it pin holes everywhere etc.
Ended going around there and taking it all off of him. Crazy stuff.
So Glad I did because I saw a car that they just painted in the booth and never seen so much orange peel in my life.
The prob was he was a smash repair so he kept stringing me along as his insurance works take priority over restoration work.
The new guys are a restoration shop so it's finally been getting the attention it deserves.

Loaded up with all the good pics I have of the painting to date.
I'm getting excited now fellas.
The guys are doing a fantastic job, going over the whole thing and dialling it all in.
Engine bay sills, jambs, underside of boot and bonnet and backs of doors etc been painted in single stage 2k.
The body and panels painted in clear over base.
All PPG paint used purchased from heartland Holden. The colour is spot on.
The other guy was using debeers and the shade wasn't correct then he was attempting to tweak it etc but the PPG code they have is exactly the one I wanted.
Panels and other parts being painted next week.
The black used is the blackest Black you can get I think it's debeers black.
Planning to have the headliner and vinyl done by a trimmer whilst it's still at their shop and have the front and back windscreen installed there too so when I pick it up it's all bolted back together screens in and ready to start putting it back together with what I can do at home.
The fun part
Can't wait

Hell yes! Looks amazing. Isn't it incredible some painters can be such tuffnuts, and others so good. I earned some really expensive lessons there... Looks great, well done. Engine will make it like driving on wet grass...

Thanks mate
I'm super excited now.
I've been waiting for a Torana nut to tell me I'm not allowed to paint the bonnet black and have the tail lights blacked out
But that's what I wanted I don't care as it's my car.
Front of an A9X and back of an L 34.
Best of both worlds

He was a goose mate.
Can't believe I trusted him for that long
It was prob more like 14 months.
As soon as I took the flare home I knew he wasn't going to be touching the rest of the car
Oh well
Everything happens for a reason
