I have bought stuff from this guy before.  Not cheap, but if he says they are in good nick, then they will be.

Quick question guys
I ended up purchasing some gutter moulds off a legend that helped me out.
He told me that the gutter moulds only came chrome?
Is this correct?
I've been researching everything I can find on it and no one seems to have that answer?
Did LX ones come painted or always chrome and then you paint it?
Are they the same LH and LX
Cheers

If you're talking about the long ones that clip onto the gutter itself then the parts catalog only lists one part number for LH (2823935) and one part number for RH (2823936). I assume it would list different part numbers if they were available painted or primed?

I don't remember ever seeing them painted, although I've seen cars with them removed/missing.

Or are we talking about all the individual pieces that go around the door frames?

The ones that extend the gutter and screw in the back door top section
These are the ones I got
Im a bit pissed off
Had my car for 2 months
Asked them to tell me all the parts I need
They tell me I need em after the car is painted
Unsure what they going to do now.
See the pics below
Mines the green one obviously LH
The one in primer is an LX.
LH has the step.
The step should have been welded up before paint fmd 07f72b0bcfdc27d6979b3564696d8df5.jpg905f575d9049c37361ddb375590d6f9e.jpg5baea780d1dadcc6420045212453519d.jpg86404ee4688b86d71202856971bbc5e6.jpga651c284ed715a078cea1e17a8e2e660.jpg

I believe that all LH Toranas apart from the Plus 4 had the chrome gutter trim.

LX SL and SL/R had the chrome door trim, but no gutter trim.  SL/R 5000 and A9X had neither.  In fact, I don't think any LX Torana had the chrome gutter trim.

LH S model.

None of them are chrome, ever.
All LH, LX, and UC Torana sedans had the extensions.

I think they may have all been made in stainless, but on the painted cars, they MAY have made them in mild steel. I am not sure.
The painted ones would be on cars such as LX SL and I think all LX SL/R variants as well.
Polished stainless full gutter trims were on LH S, LH SL, LH SL/R 5000, LH L34 plus LX S and UC S. Maybe others as well, example I'm not sure about 4cyl models.

Yeah I know. It is just so hard to get that nomenclature out of my head when everybody has called it that for so long.  :)

So I think what you're saying is... All sedans have that extension strip. If the car had the stainless front half of the gutter mould then the extension would also be stainless, but if the car didn't have the front half then the extension would be painted?

And I finally found them in the parts catalog, they're not under the trim section (like the front half of the gutter mould), they're under sheet metal and called "GUTTER - Roof drip rear"

There are two different sets of part numbers for LX sedans:

9940298 / 9940299 for UG (4cyl S) & VB (S), it doesn't state but I'd guess these are the stainless version as these cars didn't get the door frame trims.

And 9940300 / 9940301 for UH (Sunbird), VC (SL) & VD (SL/R) models, and I'd guess these may have been supplied primed?

Where did the vinyl come from? Is it a good match for the long grain that came out from factory?

The rear gutter extentions came in both steel (which was painted)  , & stainless steel.

The LH VC & VD cars got the shiney stuff.

The LX VC cars were also shiney.

If the gutter extensions were shiney , the car would also have the stainless gutter mould.

Were they both exactly the same? Size shape length etc.

LH models have different part numbers to LX for that drip rail, but there's only one part number (per side) for the entire luxury level lineup (UG thru VD) in the LH.

I'd guess that's because all LH Toranas may have had the stainless (shiny) gutter mould?

Well over due up date on here.
Far out I can't believe I haven't posted since last May.
A lot has happened.
The car is finally finished well There are still a few things I need to sort but it runs drives all registered etc
Was a mission
I was driving out to work on it on Saturdays to the fellas house that was helping me put it together etc
So cool to finally drive it and know I put it all together!
Been alot of little issues needed to sort
Extractors on passenger side needed modifying, also needed a custom cross member for the T5 box fellows one was no good.
Also have some exhaust issues.
Also brake issues
Still no filler neck on drop tank so I have to remove the temp plug I have then jiggle or pump petrol in it if I want to drive it
It's a mission let me tell ya haha
Let's just say the custom exhaust wasn't custom over the diff and around the drop tank and it was hitting all rear suspension arms.
Was told a 2.5 inch would make it over the diff and around the drop tank but it doesn't. And it was off the shelf models I found out.
When I drove it for the first time It was horrible.
First drive was in the pouring rain from the suspension shop to the car storage where I'm keeping it, was rubbing and making horrible sounds. Nursed it the whole way.
Suspension place told me the exhaust was hitting everywhere.
Spongy brake pedal like ridiculous having to pump it up to get a pedal and the windows fogging up as no dimisters set up, both windows down got soaked
Was very stressful trip hahaa but made it safe with Dad the legend following behind.
I was advised by the brake guy to install a vacuum tank for the booster.
Let's just say I have now by passed this and gone straight from booster to manifold and the brakes are a heap better.
Still not 100% but I am getting them looked at on Wednesday.
I have a vacuum tank for sale haha
Also getting the custom billet filler neck sorted on Wednesday and hopefully installing my new Koni shocks and kmac front and rear sway bars.

Exhaust guys been cool about it all sonhe should and I have had to take it back to him twice now.
Once for him to discover/show him it wouldn't work and the second time to remove it from over the diff and install dumpers before the diff and leave the dummy pipes out the rear.
Was nice to finally drive it without it hitting suspension arms but it made me realise the Monroe shocks I installed are way to soft in the rear.
I will be taking it back out to him In 2 weeks to finish exhaust - running it under the diff.
It's too loud as it is now.

So yeah just been driving back and forth to get things fixed at the moment
I did get to bring it home and show the family one day.
Still so many little things to do like wash it
Put my stickers and badges on, pop tags on, rear seat belt covers, have a little squeak on the fan belt getting that looked at on Wednesday too etc .
But the clutch and gearbox feel great so far haven't really given it a proper hit but feels smooth to drive,
The Holley sniper set up is awesome it literally fired up first try.
I'm going to get into trouble driving this thing hahaa.
So close to having it all sorted.
Was spewing it wasn't ready for Summernats weekend

Best torana colour ever.

If you do go under the diff make sure it’s flanged in a couple of spots so it’s easy to remove.

I have both versions and over the diff is much less hassle when you have to jack the car up to do stuff.
