Cheers mate! I'm still coming to terms with the fact that I can just jump in it and drive whenever I want, for so long it was just a shed ornament. Most of that time it wasn't even in my shed!

Hey Tim. Where did you source the Mawyer centres? What diameter are they? Were they very spendy?

Gday mate, I got them through Showster wheels. They are the same diameter and bolt pattern as a 15" Simmons centre, so they'll bolt straight in to Simmons rims. I can get a measurement if you need more info than that haha

They were about $2200 for the set of 4 centres, or I believe they can do the whole assembly for about $4k a set, obviously dependent on sizing.

335mm diameter. I know of a company in Adelaide making them to suit 13" wheels if you're interested in staying small.

Thanks for that Tim - yeah if you could dig out the name of the mob in Adelaide that would be great. Cheers, Rob

https://vintageandcl...-wheel-centres/

They're just down the road from me, I gave them a Simmons rim to work off for the 15s. 13" centres are a great price, but the material cost of the 15" billet bumps them up above what Showster can do.

If I did it again I'd get the full wheel, assembled. I saved a little bit of money by using secondhand Simmons lips and barrels, but not enough to worry about in the scheme of things.

Finally got it running properly on the weekend... A good tank of 98 with a squirt of octane booster, and I had a play with the timing and the carb and now I have a car that idles and does't ping under load. Beautiful!

Painted the grille black and silver, and painted the rad support behind the grille black. Replaced the >20mm of shims in the upper control arms with corresponding 'blocks' I made out of an old truck uni.

The Mawers are still in pieces under the bench, I'm just enjoying driving it!

Scored a drop tank the other day... Had to cut out the lip that the standard tank fits on, and in she goes!

One day I'll sort the exhaust out and get the tank centred.Attached File  received_630775381507266.jpeg   162.66K   14 downloads

But for now I'll just take all of my pics from the side

Cheers mate! Yeah they're 15x6.5 EL Falcon stockies, running 195/50 front and 205/55 rear tyres.

They're only on there until I get my Mawers built! But the new wheels will be running the same size tyres, albeit on 7" and 8" wide rims.

Gday mate, I'm not sure what the PN# is but I'll see if I can find it.

I didn't make the bracket, I bought the whole kit from Rodtech here in Adelaide for about $1100... Can't recommend them highly enough.

I'm keen to get the Mawers together and on the car, got a fair but on with work at the moment but I'll get them sorted over winter

I accidentally bought another set of wheels... Ford stud 15x7 V5s, eventually they'll end up a heap wider and on my Premier, but for now I'll get them on the LJ

I forgot that Simmons' and Wilwoods don't play nicely... I'll investigate closer and see if I can get away with a couple of mm of spacer, otherwise they can wait until they have a home on the Prem.

I also got a bit of extra pocket money from the tax man, so I bought a set of triple 2" SUs from Bomber Watson... Can't wait to get them set up.

You will enjoy the 2" carbs. Are they HD or HS style? What sort of manifold?

Yeah I'll have a play with them, Matty, but I'm not going to take any meat out of the caliper or anything silly to make them fit

They're HD8s, on Armour manifolds... Bomber Watson is entrusting me as their new custodian.

Wilwood calipers are structurally how-ya-garn enough without subtracting any material from them!

It would be more a case of a hubcentric spacer or countersinking/counterboring the wheel bolts in some fashion to make them tighter. Cutting off excess thread on the bolts, that kind of thing.
