in my attempt to paint the engine bay on my sons lx 4 door i removed the tags and welded the holes to make it look cleaner ........ i never did make note of where the tags should be and now im ready to re- install them ......... mmmmmmmmmm cant remember where they go and in what order .......... it was 12 plus years ago when i removed them ....... lol ....... any help would be appreciated ...... thanks

i took cook's advice and found the third tag position ......... i know which tag is in the middle but what tag goes on the drivers side please ........ is it the tag with the model,body no.,trim, paint, or is it the tag with the design rules the lx has to meet please

Yep, need to zoom in to see it and yes it is meant to be painted. ADR tag on driver's side, VIN in the centre, the other large tag on passenger side.
If you look at my pic you will see that there are two raised pads where the large tags fit and your car would still have the same pads.

Sorry to hijack but anything ‘tags’ is l a touchy subject.
I removed mine initially before it went in for its first paint job back in 2011 due to my L32 SS hatchback tags been stolen off my car about two years earlier.
My tags were removed again without my consent recently when I had my engine bay painted and subsequently damaged when refitted. I can’t win a trick 🤦🏽♂️
Hopefully all goes well and you get your tags looking 👌🏽
