Find an old barn, with hay bails around, park the car in there
with a tarp half over it, few parts lying about with the following
remark "I dont know if this is worth much?......here is a pic of
the plates, any interested parties please leave a message with my Gran..."

Yella, I'd be happy to discuss this, as I am currently working on this for my Club. The biggest problem I see is that States seem to have different Historic Registration schemes, so that something that's OK in one state is not necessarily allowable in another state. At our next meeting we are considering what allowable modifications will be allowed on historic registration in the ACT. It would be good if we could somehow devote our efforts to developing a national standard, possibly through this forum.
What would be a good start though is an agreed list backed up by evidence of what options were available with what cars. Examples could be;
LC/LJ sedans with front or rear spoilers from factory
LH/LX S and SL models with any parts of body kits available from factory.
The thing is with the above, as far as the SA Historic Rego scheme is concerned, if we have good proof that one car left the factory and was sold with an unusual option, then we can allow athat option with all such models.
Another issue we face is the lack of a clear definition of 'replicas'. The SA scheme seems to be written around not allowing fibreglass body replicas of real cars, eg Cobras, vintage cars, etc, but unfortunately'replica' also covers the fitting of body kits and accessories eg to an LH/LX sedan to make it look like an L34 or A9X. I'm not talking about trying to pass the car off as the real thing, but if somone has gone to the trouble of recreating a faithful replica, then should it be eligible for historic rego???

Well,I dont have an A9X and probably never will have and I have no intention of making a replica one, However I would be very interested in knowing what the difference is (besides the obvious) between A9X and other models like my SLR5000.
As for thinking that posting the differences on this site is going to create a epidemic of A9X replicas, WHAT A TOSS. If someone is going to make a replica they are going to need extensive details about the differences not just the differences, and they are going to get them wether it is posted here or not.
So in closing IF SOMEONE on this site knows the answer to this question......
JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION and if you don't know the answer stay tuned we might all learn something

All of which is pretty much common knowledge, and has been talked about on this forum on many occasions.
Making replicas is fine - I've made one, and currently own another. Making 'fakes' is not fine though, if the intent is to deceive.
I think REDA9X walks the fine line quite well between assisting people with info, and not giving out too much info though. Where's the line between telling honest people enough detailed info so that they can pick a fake, and telling someone not so honest enough info that they can make a fake that is very hard for the ordinary enthusiast to pick?
On the one hand, you're helping the honest enthusiast to not get ripped off, but on the other hand, you're in effect ripping off the enthusiast, if only indirectly, by giving out the same information on a public forum.

You are right I had the wrong mindset and the wrong word saying replica. RedA9X is talking purely about fakes and people trying to deceive and he is right in not wanting to feed their data base.
However I am not looking for details in every aspect of the A9X option just what the differences/options are/were as a Torana enthusiast.
The list Dangerous provided is a good start to confirm what I already new but I am intrigued by over 100 differences and would like more info. If you are concerned PM me the information I seek and rest assured I am not a deceitful person.
In reply to your reply post REDA9X I apologise for the toss comment it was not called for in anyway.
In response to your ask HG350 statement I would ask that you read my posts and you will find I am not asking for in depth details or engineering drawing just a bit of info to improve my knowledge of TORANA.
That said if you do not wish to part with any information regarding the A9X option I understand your motive and respect your stance on this matter
