Depends on tyre size
I used to run 3.9's in mine
As for front runners... if your running radial rears you should stick with radial fronts
If your running rags on the back... same on the front
However probably not needed unless you think your in the 11 second or faster bracket... even then not mandatory

3.55 gears should get you crossing the line just short of 6000rpm(I imagine that the engine would be able to rev harder), so 3.9 gears would be better if you have them, otherwise "run what you brung" & have fun. Remember to pump the fronts up hard if you haven't got any skinny tyres.

I found semi slicks hard to burn off the line. I had Nolethane rear end but. It just wanted to hop away.

My LJ is 1202kg, with me in it, so if you can get the traction off the line, 12s are doable.
