I am after new tyres for the back of my Torrie. But i am having trouble getting 265/50-14 tyres. I have been told Yoko is the only one still making them and there is about 3 month waiting time.

Has anyone else had problems getting these and what have most people got on their cars?

Thanks.

When I bought the 235/50/14's for the front a few months ago, Bridgestone were still doing a 265 eager.

I bought some brand new 265/50 x 14's back in May this year. I am fairly sure they are BFGoodrich Radial T/A's. They were readily available at the time.

I know with the 245/50 x 14's, BFG no longer make them... so I had to buy Yokohama Radial 352's instead.

Bridgestone S-330 Eager's are still made in 265 and 245 only, 14x50 series profile only. Bridgestone advise that there are no plans to stop producing these two sizes, and they only keep making them for the older cars. General good road tyre, crap on the track.

I checked with the Bridgestone shop in Toowoomba QLD about 6-8 weeks ago and they advised me they were no longer making any tyres in 265x14 either 60 or 50 series ! How long since you checked Yella ?

I bought a pair in February from Bridgestone. It is only available in the S-330, not the S-340. Still listed on their website as well.

Oooh, your right. God better get em off the car and onto Ebay - RARE!!!!

Just double checked the website, no longer lists the 265's!!!! Gonna have to start researching in five or six years then. So much for the dude saying they were going to keep both the 245's and 265's for the old cars like ours!!!! You can never trust the dude at the front counter can you.

Be most interested to know what you find, as looks like I'm gonna be in the same predicament in a while.

Did send off an email to Bridgestone seeking confirmation after the last Summernats. Needless to say, I'm still waiting a response.

Maybe we need to be writing a letter to Bridgestone (they don't seem to be Email savvy) seeing if they can stretch out the RE92's to 245 and 265 just for our old girls. The Chinese will prolly pick up on it and we can have Aussie muscle on Chinese rubber. Wonder if Les has any pull in this department, i.e. talking to Bridgestone on our behalf?

Just found the card from Feb. 245/50R14 $230 each, 265/50R14 $250 each. I was looking for the dude that I spoke to at the last Summernats. Can't find that one.

Think I might pen a letter, see if that gets any response.

Quick net search:-

http://www.northhant...tyre search.htm

reveals ???? ----> http://www.northhant...es/26550R14.htm

Yokohama Y352's ---> http://www.yokohama....aspx?tyreid=179

Dunlop's Aussie site seems to not exist. See if you can get this to work:- www.dunloptyres.com.au

Hoosier doesn't appear to have anything.

Don't know how to convert to American sizes, but here's link to Mickey Thompson:- www.mickeythompsontires.com

^ I think these are them 24x5.0xR15 and 26x 8.0 R15, but note 15" tyres. http://www.mickeytho...tem=SportsmanSR

That's all I've been able to find thus far.

I erred, make that Korean instead of Chinese.

u can always upgrade to those big 15" rims and then the choice is endless.

If you want tyres in any width these days its either 15 or 18's.

Mickey thompson make some nice street tyres and pretty well priced.

Might be a thought to buy what you want now(how many sets will see you out?), given that its available, as the trend shows it will possibly wont be available in the future.

i think i managed to get the last pair of 13" bridgstone eager 205/60/? (cant
remember off by heart the last one) they are the s-340 ones too.
got them canterbury tyre n mag superstore in bayswater, for $110 each. i know
i should take them off but it looks soo nice with them on. but once i make some more mula i will take them off, n keep them for display. canterbury tyre n mag shops hav quite a few varieties of second 14" mags that arent to beaten up, so if u looking for some thats best place to go. if we talking bout tyres they have them too, second to brand new even. just a lil bit of info for ya.

More grim news:-

Hello Pat,

Thankyou for your enquiry regarding BFGoodrich tyres.

Unfortunately, we also are not continuing with this size and therefore do not
have an offer available for you.
We do have a 245/60 R 14 Radial T/A, however.

Best Regards,

Hope Les can come to the rescue. Looks like Yokohama's are all that are available at this point in time, unless we can get somewhere with Bridgestone.

^ Better than not having any. Are they the Yokohama 352's? My first Torry had those, only 205's though, and they were deadly in the wet, used to like riding on top of the puddles.

I spoke with the guys at my local tyre dealer today and confirmed the same news again... BFG have definitely stopped bringing in 265/50x14's. As people have already said, Yokohama are now the only company in Australia who will continue to supply 265/50x14's... in their Radial 352 (A-Block) tyre. However they only get a shipment in to Australia once a year... next shipment is due around Christmas time. So at least there's still an option out there.... the old fat 14's are not dead yet!

Well you guys are wrong if you think Yoko's are the only 265's left. Have a look on the Bridgstone website and you will find EAGERS come in 265 50 14. Also you can get BF Goodrich.

I got prices from Bob Janes the other day coz I want some for the back:

Yokos - 251 each
BF Goodrich - 270 each
Eagers - 280 each

bgucken expensive but they looks killa :spoton:

^ prove it by trying to order two 265/50 R14's S-330's like I did two days ago at the local Bridgestone Tyre Centre. They aren't even listed on the Bridgestone site anymore, they are on the Goodrich site, however the email from Goodrich advises otherwise.
