it should have an engine # with a HZ prefix, and a cast date in 1974

there is a little meat in them in some spots, nothing much different from the later blocks, the heads had larger valves and "roller" rockers, stronger conrods. I am sure there is more but cant remember off the top of my head after a coupla beers.....

The engine prefix should be "HZ" as mentioned.

The block itself has some extra webbing that later 308s had added to them.

The heads are the main difference, larger valves and a roller pivot for the rocker arm. The extractors have a joining flange where the pipes are still separated for each cylinder.

The sump is baffled and the conrods are stronger with an "X" on the side.

The oil pump is a high volume one.

The ignition has twin points and twin coils with 4 lobes breaking the contacts instead of 8.

There are other body type mods and the brakes are HQ/J.
