I've just picked a 4cyl LJ 2 door torana. I got some 15 x 14 weld aluma stars and a 4 link rear end sitting in the shed so i'm going to have a go at doing a 3/4 chassis in it. Can anyone tell me is the enginebay any shorter and can i cut the nosecone off it and put the 6 cylinder one of it? The crossmember does matter because the engine will have engine plates and be mounted to the body and the front of the new chassis.

keep the 4 cyl front on it :D

I've seen a 4 cyl LJ body with a 308 in it... Tilt front, i think...

They don't really have a nose cone panel like 6 cyl LJs. I think you would have to swap inner & outer guards along with the rad support to get it looking right.

I won't have any inner guards on it so i can allow for pipes so it shouldn't be to much of a drama to put the guards and nose piece on. My girlfriend wanted a 6cyl one but when i got this one for free its work the work i think.

Im sure the rails are slightly shorter on the 4cyl, the inner guards are definitely shorter & different.

From the firewall back the 4cyl & 6 cyl are the same.

I've decided to buy a pair of modified commodore front struts from mcdonaldbros racing and go the full chassis way that why it'll make it easy for maintance etc. If anyone knows where i can get a fibreglass torana front from please pm me. I'll post some pics when i get it home in the members projects section.
