Hey peoples, the radiator has been changed in the old girl at some stage, as the plate which is on the top tank isn't the original shape and now comes off flat kicks up at 45 degrees and then levels out again. It is clearly not original.

I want the engine bay to look nice and original, has anyone else had to replace one of these before ? If so what type of plate is correct for the radiator ?
Thanks Fat Tony.

G'day Fat Tony

Here is an early black and white pic of the LJ engine bay. There are lots of contempory photos showing the same fan guard. Although the guard is similar on all models, I wonder how many XU1s have the correct number of fins per inch on the actual radiator.

Not many original ones around, you can still get the correct core at least.
The plate is flat as stated earlier, the numbers are;
eg. H 73 = 8th month 1973, followed by 2823866 (ring a bell)
First the date, then the part number.
E 72 2823866 for a 6/72 and so on.
Same system as heads, blocks etc.......
Cheers.
