Hello fellas

I have just finished putting my 383 short block together and dropped the high energy sump on - it no longer fitted with the longer stroke.

SO out came the grinder and now its in many bits.

What would be the ultimate design for a wet sump and what parts can i buy to weld in it?

Errr.... must be a problem if you had to cut up a high energy sump!!

Do a search on High energy's web page, Morosso and Milodon.

Some you can see a picture of the baffling and some you cant!

Basically you need to create an area around the pickup that the oil cant run away from, but can easily get back in to under all types of forces. Cornering, Accelerating and braking!!

Ive just gone through this, and purchased a moroso road race sump. It has 5 gates, and the baffling is unreal. Its also designed witha kick out to catch oil spray from the crank and is shaped so that you can get the oil filter off and on!!

Let ya know how it goes when we get this engine together!

diamond stripper mesh works well for a street pan, make sure its baffled well around the pick up

the baffles are nothing more than walls with hinges that open in toward the pickup.
