I have seen a couple of royal plum LX SLR's and they had the stripes in silver.

Wow.

The only Royal Plum SL/R I've ever seen is my own.

I have seen quite a few RPM Toranas and I hear that many RPM SL/R's and Toranas were painted in more fashionable colours in the 80's. One guy approached me once and said he had the same colour Torana and painted it red, I remember seeing a RPM hatchback that used to park under the bridge at McDonaldtown and the guy ended up painting it a dreadful green colour.

Yep, back then it was quite an unfashionable colour, I once went to a car dealer and asked how much I could get for my car and the first thing he said was, "Ohhh purple, it'll be hard to sell".

Here are some photos

The black between the chrome window surround and silver pinstripe I painted myself, I had planned on removing the silver pinstripes but being so old they would peel off the paint.

I continued with that black strip all the way to the front, the bonnet was black when I bought it, you may notice two shades of black.

TORANA lettering on passenger side, I noticed holes in the bootlid under the rear spoiler passenger side so I assume it is the same TORANA lettering.

Some reference material to study. May help with the restoration.

Thanks 'Toranavista'

I have been trying to get a scan of those pages from the "sports Dept"
torana pamphlet for ages.

Cheers
David
