Get a can holder that also washes and cooks.

i made one at work about five years ago.had about fifteen engines on it and no problems.it was built with a bit of overkill(everything is twice the size it needs to be),but it works fine.

the front wheels are from a wheelie bin,and the back one is a lockable castor.
as you can see it is also used for putting spare blocks on when they r in the way.
the handle is just a crow bar or what ever is handy.the shaft that goes through the tube is a twistlock spigot.just a piece of 6mm plate cut at 400mm square with some 3/4 bolts holding the arms on.
pretty simple stuff,but it works

I rekon you have a good thing. Add a tool tray, maybe removable so its not always in the way (maybe flip down/up) the drip tray would be EXCELLENT! cant tell you how many tiimes i have used our engine stand and had to lay newspaper down underneath it (and still need to clean up later) so when pulling off sumps and stuff you dont put oil and shit all over the floor. Is it possible that you can put a small winch system and make it so that the actual mounting point, and therefore the whole motor can be raised or lowered (dropped to lower tray to store motor, or raised for easier acess to other parts of the motor.)

I would make the wheels big enough so you can push it out of a shed and be able to move it easily over grass/gravel/dirt.

How tall do I want it? I'm 6" tall.

Also, how long is a red 6, and how heavy are they? How heavy are 253/308s?

How thick should the tube be?

Still need pics of the 'head' where it bolts to the engine.

Decided on using a magnetic strip and a socket rack instead of a tool tray, and am looking into buying an oil drip tray.

Cheers for your help guys.

Gday again.

Can someone get a pic of the 'head' on their engine stand, with a few measurements? Like how long the arms are, how long the holes in it are, how thick the plate is, etc etc.

Cheers.

this is very rough and a few dimensions have just been made up to show roughly what it looks like. if you require specific dimensions then give me some more time to go out and get them. for instance the angles have just been made up aswell as the positioning of the slits. oh and the upright has just been put in there for representation sake. i think thats about all that had been made up. the rest of the dimensions i actually measured off the stand.
hope this helps ya mate! :spoton: let me know if you need further assistance.

When you said 'technical drawing', I thought you meant a pic with some dimensions, but this is great. Cheers heaps for that, Leigh.
