i just bought this slr cluster, and i was having look at it and heard a rattle inside it, so i pulled apart and found this (in the picture) floating around. i cant see any connections that it may go into, so i just wanna whats it for n if it is part of one of the components.
can anyone tell me what it is.

it's from the back of the tacho. I've seen them come off before

ah ok, so does that mean the tacho wont work cos thats come off? do u know where bouts it goes?

Sammy,
That part is glued and the two wires from the internal winding are soldered to the board it came off.

If both wires broke off at the soldered joint, then its just a matter of glueing the part back on and resoldering the wires from the joints they broke from.

If however the wires broke internally (and thereisnt two wires coming out) then you need to buy a new part and fit it as described above.

New parts are available (about 30-40 bucks) and allow the same amount if you are not doing it yourself.

Yes you are correct saying that the tacho will not work

ah thats great max thanks heaps. the part that came off doesnt haven any wirer coming out, theres hardly any there. wherebouts does it glue onto?
so i guess i'll go to auto electrician n gett new one there
