Whining gears

hey guys the LX has 3 on the tree, first and second gears whine right through the range but once its in 3rd the noise disappears.

its done this since ive had it and hasn't died yet, but i'm still curious to know if its going to be a fatal blow to the 'box.

also, if i accelerate hard in 2nd and then put the clutch in, it sounds like a small knock or something. not sure whats going on.

sounds like the old front gearbox bearing dieing. can be a bit upsetting when it collapses and totals the box

so is that something that is only used with 1st and 2nd gears? thanks for the input

more likely needle roller bearings on lay shaft, cluster gear used in 2nd & 3rd
straight thru for top. will eventually break gear teeth.
can get kit to replace if cluster not damaged
but those boxes proberly only $20 at wrecker, lots in HQ to HZ as well.
