anyone know the what the length of a trimatic and short snout turbo 350 are? also do they have the same spline count on the input shaft connecting to the tailshaft?

iv heard with the short snout turbo box, you dont need to shorten the torana tailshaft.
which means they would be very close in lenth to a trimatic.

i have a long nose tubo box and its soooo long!

Splines are identical

When I changed from a 253 trimatic to 308 TH350 I do not recall having to alter the tailshaft. I still have the tailshaft in the shed so I can measure it if you want.

Hi Guys.

The tailshaft is the same length & splines. The x-member is different, the mount is further forward & lower down. The mount position os a TH350 is the same as V8 Powerglide & Saginaw.

I used a Castlemain Rod Shop crossmember and speedo cable.

I tried to use the standard cable shifter from a WB statesman but I had clearance problems at the gearbox. The standard rod shifter from a HZ ( I think ) fitted perfectly. I still have the shifter if you are looking for one.

cool so i can go ahead and order the tailshaft to suit the 9in to trimatic, and then when it comes time to change engine/trans (turbo 350) it should still bolt up without any problems.
