You may have gone faster with a bit less weight in the fuel tank. Which is exactly why my drag UC has a VERY small fuel tank.

Yeah Chopper no doubt at all mate.... there is at least a tenth of a second there, just in the weight of 70 litres, easy.

I didn't mind though, cos I like racing with lots of fuel - I only have a very cheap fuel system, with a forward facing pickup, so it's going against all the drag racing rules! Making sure my pickup is permanently covered in fuel is critical. But next time I will try to budget my trip to arrive at the track with a bit less fuel on board... closer to 30 or 40 litres would be nice.

How did you go brett!? Bit of a shame about the weather mate! Least you got a few passes in though!

Fingers crossed for our day!

My tank will only have to get me from the start line to the finish and back again, not Melbourne and back. In theory, I should be able to make 2 passes with a full tank, but I"ll have to wait and see.

Will you be using a coke bottle for an overflow bottle and a fuel tank? :tease:

Tiny - Sadly, I didn't run a P.B :(

My passes were: 12.3, 12.0, 11.98, and 12.3 again. It'd been so long since I'd raced, I was just getting my feel back, and easing into it.... I thought we'd have all day to race. My 11.98 pass did feel pretty good though.

I also did bugger all prep though. This week I am going to adjust the rockers up (it's been AGES), maybe fit fresh plugs, and I want to advance the timing a tad as well. If I can manage to crack an 11.8 I would be stoked!

Also thinking of swapping plugs from 6's to 7's and see what happens.

I was also running with bigger jets in the rear.... I might try coming back down a size again. Maybe I should rip the exhaust off too!!!!!

The radiator overflow will be bigger than the fuel tank. Serious.

I'm fairly sure the fuel container ( it's too small to be called a fuel tank ) holds less than 1 litre. If I get bored, I'll measure it with a measuring jug.

If the showers are nice and early ( I'll be having mine around 6.00AM ), then it should be all GO!

If the clouds had gone and there were no puddles, they might let us loose. But I would think they would like to see it nice and dry first. Brett would probably be better to answer that one.

From what i've experienced in drag racing...

The track has to be 100% dry as the traction compound used when wet becomes like ice. Even for low powered cars, the VHT on the track with even a few drops of water becomes slippery to the extreme and racing is stopped.

I do not know how they deal with it at Heathcote, but often they will try and let the track dry either naturally OR using flame dryers on the track.

Let's hope that we dont have to find out!

Regardless of the weather I'm heading up there as were staying overnight with some of the crew up there ( See the heathcote accomodation thread in this section), so yeah! See how it goes!

After the racing finishes, the burnout pad opens, then everything fizzles out as we try to keep TORANR AMORE's LX from stalling, whilst flooding it with cool water with the intention of not letting it seize.

Well... that's what happened last time anyway. So the racing will finish earlyish but we'll then head out the the pad and finish up around 4:00 i think someone said?

Well I'm thinking... I'm gonna be there anyway. Looking at the weather won't change it. So I'm just gonna sit it out and hope for the best. It probably would make a difference if I was taking a car though...

Does Heathcote even prepare the track?

With showers/cold weather forcast for friday night, saturday and sunday, I think its pretty much a sure think there will some moisture over the day, but like you guys have been saying, might be lucky and get it all over and done with early.
