stiff bootlid

are there any adjustments on the bootlid hinges that can get rid of this problem? its only stiff on the initial part of closing and a fair bit of effort is required... how do i fix this problem???

On an LX, there are 2 bars where the hinges are, that twist to create the tension when opening (easy) and closing (some tension, only should be enough to hold the boot open).
These bars bend around like L shaped hooks and fit into a adustment area with 4, er... teeth, You can adjust the tension here.
You can try adjusting them here. Mine are placed on the lower ones. Just force the bar up or down with a large screwdriver or something. both sides should be on the same setting.
Also give your hinges a squirt with some CRC or WD40 around the pivot point.

it seems strange that torsion bars could create greater force over a period of time as suggested ^? Does the boot spring upwards with a lot of force when it is opened more than half way?
