As a few of you know, I got an HQ Premier given to me last year.

CBF'd putting pics up here, but go to http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2497274 for pics.

Anyhoo, this is my current dillema. It has a 202 in it, and the radiator has shit itself. being the only Holden Auto we have, and with auto radiators being different to manuals, we don't know what do to. We have a 253/M20 in an HZ parts car with a good 3 core radiator.

You thinking what I'm thinking?

curious, how did the radiator shit itself? is it just leaking?

but for the options, go with the 253. . . if its cheap and do-able, go for it. cant beat the sound of a V8 :D

Radiator is just screwed. It overheated twice in less than half an hour, just cruising on the highway at 100k's...

If the 253 is all there in the parts car, you will have everything you need.
Has Parts car got salsbury diff as well, cos 6cly banjo won't be real strong behind 4 speed V8.
You'll have to connect nuetral start wire together when you change to a manual

Dunno bout diff. the 6cyl diff has been used for towing all its life, so may've been replaced with a Salisbury already? maybe.

Cheers Sandman, and welcome to the forums.

reminds me, iv got to decide on what to do with my HJ, its got 110000ks on it it would be a shame to get rid of. maybe do her up in the future.

If you know for sure the radiators at fault and not the thermostat, waterpump etc then just get an old trans cooler from the wreckers and use transmission hose from the ends of the current lines up to that.

I don't want to fix the radiator! I wanna whack a V8 in the ol' girl!

And the nearest wreckers that would have anything like mentioned above is 100 k's away...

I'd just change the lot over from the HZ. Least with a HZ clutch setup u won't have to take the booster off to tape the holes behind it for a HQ setup which is the old rat trap style. On the HZ it should be just a cable? If you don't have a Salisbury diff the you should be able to get away with the banjo if your not 2 ruff lol. The tailshaft for the banjo will fit the M20

the ol hqs have definately disapeared off the road

i rememeber a few years ago dad got a v8 car body given to him so we stripped it down and cut out sections for his monaro

a mate up the road reckons hes wrecked about 7-10 (cant rememeber)

then theres the bloke on the other side of town who owned 30 but had to sell a few
has still got 24 though

HQ Racing has put a bit of a dent in supplies for the old girls. I've got 3, though :D

The plan is to take everything from the radiator to the tailshaft from the HZ, and plant it into the HQ.
