can any-one tell me who was dealer 895 ?

Hi Ian

Zupps of Mt Gravatt Qld is currently code 895. I note from their web-site that they have been around since the 1950's and 895 may well have been their code in another locality during the 1970s.

It may be worth your while to email them to establish if 895 was always their code or whether they took it over when they perhaps bought out another dealer (as often happened).

Hi

Further to the above - I notice that Dick Johnson's XU-1 of the period had "Zupps of Mt Gravatt" signage on the rear quarter of the car. It seems likely that Zupps of Mt Gravatt had 895 as their code in the '70s.

If the dealer you are after is not on the list, all I can say is sorry but keep looking. I had a very long and frustrating search for the dealer number for my car (649) but eventually found what I was looking for.

In Jan 1972 there were 521 GMH dealers in Aust.

Booran Holden are still at that address - it could be that they took over the Dealer Code from Mentone Motors. Booran Holden are currently code 435 which is an old number. It is worth contacting them - someone may remember.

my Mustard '73 2 door was sold new but no dealer code in service book.

PM me the last 7 letters/numbers of your VIN No and I will be able to tell you who your car was allocated to by Holden.

Anyone know of dealer code 601?

Also, on the VIN lists, next to the sales dealer code, there is another code under the heading Z. What does the code in this column refer to? Most are 'B', mine is 'S'.

Sorry, yeah 029 is correct which is my LJ GTR's dealer code. I was looking at my LC 4 door's dealer code which is 893. Anyone know what 893 is? Its not on the list. Its probably in QLD somewhere as I got the car from Ipswich.

Hi

How would they know how many were current at a given time? We can see from what we already have - that we are shooting at a moving target eg. name changes, dealer closures etc etc.
