as far as i know, LCs came with the one mirror on drivers side..

now, i have some rear louvres i want to put in my LC.. but i was skimming across some SA traffic laws and i read that you cannot put in rear louvres without mirrors on both sides of the car.. unless the obstruction is factory fitted.

I know there can also be exceptions for older vehicles.

Can anyone shed some light on the subject?
Did anyone ever install left-hand mirrors on LCs? Was it an option?

thanks.

Check with Barry, he has the optional extras pamphlet. Got a feeling the pics might be on this site as well.

I could be wrong but i thought the left hand mirror was an option on both LC and LJs?

How the bguck would a copper on the side of the road tell you that a rear louvre WASN'T factory or dealer fitting.

You'd have to pick up some really odd wanker with a quota to fill to cop that.

Whack it on, son.
These are the interior venetian style? AFAIK they are on the option sheet.

73LJWhiteSL Steve was right with the left side being optional but if you try to put a door mirror on that side you cannot see enough of the mirror face to be any good.

I got from ebay a bent shaft NASCO gutter mounted mirror stem.
That bent shaft actuallyswivells and is locked into place with a screw down its shaft.

The only problem I have is that I don't have a mirror face to go with it and the door mirror face will not fit.

The only optional mirror for the LC is the door mirror so I thought but the seller said that this mirror was a dealer fitted item. I've never heard of it but there are always some thing different from the norm to be learnt about our much loved Toranas. :spoton:

Regards ................. Barry
