Hi all,

My LC has been sufferring from vapour lock in the brisbane heat. After about 20 mins to cool down, it fires first go and i'm off again.... It's a 202 with triple SU's and pacemaker headers. It has a custom fuel rail (metal) running above the intake manifold and a holley red elec. pump in the boot.

Has anyone had similar problems and fixed it?

I'm sending the headers off to get ceramic (HPC) coated, but i've noticed a lot of lc/lj's with triples have the fuel line going to a block in the engine bay - then individual rubber hoses going to each carby. My setup (as i bought it), has the fuel hose enter the fuel rail just before the rear carbie, then the fuel rail supplies to each carbie. You can see this on the following page (engine bay pic) http://manny.homelin...ent/torana.html

I'm wondering if I should change this?

Any ideas / help appreciated.

Cheers,
Shane

Why not get your fuel rail ceramic coated as well, it will then reflect more heat.

Advice taken! :)

Also got the intake manifold done as well... get it back on Saturday so hopefully the heat problems will be solved.

your fuel delivery system will be fine.
i doubt that you can empty a fuel bowl that fast that the end one hasnt got a chance to fill up

Its not hard to imagine your fuel instantly evoporating as it hits the fuel bowls on a hot day. Best of luck.

Try fitting some heat shields under the fuel bowls to help reflect the heat, I had a similar setup to your LC with a mechanical pump & was able to run in 40c heat with out drama.

Heat shield is on they way - thanks to goxu1 (providing I can modify it to suit SU's and manifold).

By the time I'll get it together summer will be over <_<

An arm and a leg Andrew... well nearly.

Was quoted 250 for 6cyl headers, ended up 460 (inc. intake/fuel rail). My headers have been custom lengthened after the first collector (the 2 pipes and the final pipe before connection to the rest of the exhaust) so they were a bit more than normal.

Not cheap, looks great, better work!!

Not entirely sure yet - hasn't been hot enough lately for a real test... However, I used to have to pump the pedal (with ignition on) 1/2 a dozen times to fire it if it had been left for more than a couple of minutes. After the few drives I have done this week it's fired straight away so I'm thinking it has helped heat soak after stopping.

Cheers,
Shane
