I've heard you can get a repair kit for starter motors

mines a red six one and i've broken the plastic solanoid while undoing the power connections.

what do you get and can you do it all yourself?

You can buy the solonoid cap maybe from repco and it's very easy to change over, just take out the 2 screws and un-solder the 2 wires to get it off when your putting the new one on screw it down before you solder the 2 wires.

nothing too complex in repairing ur starter, just make sure u have a soldering iron nearby as u will need to use 1 for the solenoid cap and brushes if they need changing also.

Make sure you use loctite on those solenoid cap screws, they have a habit of working their way loose. I had to temporarily screw mine back in to allow me to undo the battery lead, would of busted it otherwise.
