I have 2 manuals here that cover that gearbox. Both say 2 litres of oil.
I says SAE 80/90 gear oil and the other specifies Castrol Hyp B80.
Both these books are "dated"
I recently purchased a gearbox off e-bay that had been used in a rally car and the owner had used synthetic oil.
This gearbox needs a new cluster gear so your guess is as good as mine.

i swear by syntec diff and gear box oils as their synthetic oils and im lead to believe the they are well worth the extra $$$$$$$$. i think they are good for when your pumping a few extra ponies through it, i dont really remember the story but i know mines handling the @400hp im pumping at the crank rodomos advice is per the factory specs thats why his answer is different

Castrol make a very good gearbox oil. I thought my book said 2.1 litres, but that's pretty close to Robs figure.

One of my mates, who rebuild my box, has worked with gearboxes (both auto and manual) for 20 years. He told me to run half gearbox oil, half engine oil. I was running half Castrol VMX 80 and engine oil.
He told me with the car level to just fill the box up untill it starts to run out the fill hole in the side.
