The aluminium plate at the front of this engine (belongs to 'SUXGAS') is an engine plate. used for big HP cars that would rip a std mount out.whats an engine plate..

Hey mark,
I used to own 1TUFLX, It was orange with a white interior, 454 powerglide 9inch. It was all under the bonnet. As the boys said, trim of the rails sides and back you'll be suprised, mine had 2" 4 into 1's, standard engine position and mounts, standard crossmember with modified sump to clear, It had 12mm steel rod welded inside all of the wishbones for strength & standard height V8 springs.
It drove great!!

If the standard engine mounts are going to be at their limit then an easier approach than an engine plate is the nolathane replacement engine mounts. I just fitted a set of these and they fit straight in.

I use standard rubber mounts with a torque strap and have not broke a mount yet.

I changed for both the added security plus just minimising any engine movement/rocking.
With 2.125" primaries and 4" collectors everything is a very tight fit.
