Hello

I have a lx hatch with a standard 202 and need a better carbie to replace the single barrel stromberg. My mate had the idea of getting the double barrel carbie of a VB commodore but he isnt sure if it would fit etc. So does anyone know if it would go on the car alright and has anyone done it? Thanks.

The blue 202 two barrel wont fit a red 202 manifold you need an adapter
your better off finding a 350 holley + cane or redline manifold about $150
Second hand /swap meet /ebay

VB 'Dore had a blue 202 as far as I know. I agree, 350s don't work very well but they're a common upgrade because they are cheap and they increase power, on the other hand they waste fuel.

You could always go a WW Stromberg, or any Verijet because they're higher quality carbs and they can be tuned awesomely. As far as I know a Verijet II from a UC will bolt strait on, a blue motor Verijet may not but I'm guessing you just change the manifold over and that will bolt strait on?

VB were definatley red motor. Get a 2barrel manifold to suit a 350 holly. If you want full go adapt a WW2 stromberg (if you go this way make sure it is for a 6 not a 253 as you may have to rejet it) If you want more economy and yet have it get up and go when you want it adapt the varijet.

Varijet can support up 160 Kw...I doubt he will max one of them out yet.

Common sense choices are:

Weber 34 ADM (of XE-XF Falcon)
Varijet
WW Stromberg

top 2 are my pick because you have to keep yuor emission gear working (whether you like it or not) and those 2 are easily able to do that.

The varijet is the simplest soultion. BUT like the DGV weber and the Varijet both require the air cleaner to be replaced.

With the WW you sometimes can get the original to go on even though the carby does have a different diameter throught

Cheers

PS: Pick would be a varijet
