Well my grandad has has these two HKs sitting there since i was about 3 or 4 years old. One was my uncles car and the other was so my uncles old car could be reshelled due to severe rust.

About 14 years ago my grandad started to rebuild them into one car but lost interest in it and they have sat in his shed ever since.

The donor car

I decided i wanted another project as a cruiser with a resto/custom look so i rang him and asked what he was doing with them. He said I can have them, so ive spent the last week down there working on it and this is where im at now

The plan so far is to use the 186 in the Donor car which has only done 30 000 miles( he bought a brand new engine from Holden sometime in the 70s)
Coupled to a colum shift trimatic, std banjo with some 2:78s rebuild the suspension fit up a disc brake front and booster
Retrim the interior keeping the bench seats and maybe even the Camper seat option( the bench folds flat to make a bed inside the car)
Some white walls and hubcaps on the std steelies and then cruise the wheels off it.

Ill update again next week when i get back again hopefully the shell will be etched inside and out by then.

Well after another week the whole shell, bonnet and bootlid have now been striped, rust converted and etch primed as well as a few patches put in where required. Now i need to do the doors, guards and inside/underneath it. Shame i dont have another 2 weeks holidays or i could show you the shell all in etch. Thanks for the nice comments to guys. ( Sorry no pics this week was a little erm unhappy when the new rust converter managed to fry all the etch we did this week and had to bare metal half of it again)

Its been a bit of a slow road for the rebuild. Maakes it hard when you have to travel 2hrs each way to work on it but heres some more ive done to it.

Got hold of a HT Prem thats seen better days so i can remove the disc brake front end trimatic and column from it, so i will now have all the bits for the driveline.

All the doors and guards have been soda blasted and rust converted and are now in etch prime back on the car. Were slowly working our way through repairing the minor damage in places on the car

The bugger of a thing is i found rust in the plenum, which now means drilling out all the spot welds that hold it in, and transfering in another good section i have got.

Between this thing and trying to get some work done to the Torana i think ill be kept busy for a while yet

Does anyone know of someone good who can replace the whole plenum chamber area?

I have a complete rust free cut here from a HG but can not find anyone remotely interested in fixing it for me.

I don't mind taking the car within about 4-5 hrs of Brisbane or 2-3 Hrs of Lismore for someone who will do a good job of it for me.

The guy I had lined up to do it was swamped with work, them moved away.

I am kind of holding off now on spending any more time on doing it as if I can not get the plenum area repaired then the shell is a waste.
