The VIN tag (long thin one) is the only real means apart from little differences around the vehicle. You are best advised to discuss any issues in identifying a specific car with people like hg350 on this forum.
All the little differences are not readily available for obvious reasons. ie cloning
The chassis number on the inner guard does nothing in particular but people like hg350 can also use this to correlate with their extensive personal records to help see if there is anything blatently amiss.

Hi
You will find that members are reluctant to respond to your post. Anything can be faked - even the "Mona Lisa". Start with the VIN and then consult with people that have the expertise to spot the fakes. There are a lot of indicators that are not well known (and rightly so) to the general community. At the end of the day there are a lot of identifiers that can confirm that a particular car is not an XU1 but not that many that confirm that a particular car is the genuine article. There is a body of knowledge that genuine XU-1 owners are reluctant to share with all and sundry.
Sorry to be oblique - but there is a lot at stake.

first option would be to post all the plate codes so those that have data can make
a reasonable decision, next see if you can find forum member near with knowledge
to check out car
we all like to find another one
