Hi guys im thinking that if i whack a set of those Mcdonald Bros Racing Adjustable trailing arms in my car it may just fix the problem with the pinion angle on my salisbury. My question is, Has any one on the forum used these trailing arms. Are they good, bad, need modification etc. Please help i dont want to spend the money to find out that it worse than when i started. (im only a 1st year mechanic :tease: )

My first question is why do you have a pinion angle problem with your salisbury in the first place?..They were a GMH fitment.

Oh yeah forgot to mention. The diff is in an LX not UC. Car does not have UC floor pan and is a four door. if that helps.

Only the upper McDonald Bros trailing arms are adjustable. You could try modifying a standard set of arms to see if it solves the problem and then buy the McDonald Bros arms. Whiteline make adjustable lower arms, they do not look as strong as the Mcdonald Bros arms.

Another option to consider is replacing the LX upper arm mounts with the upper arm mounts from a UC and use the standard UC arms.

I have a set on my car and can recommend them quality wise.
The give quite a bit of adjustment to play with. I had to press the bushes in the ends myself though as these were only given in a packet.
I bought em cos i wasnt happy with the angle my nine inch was sitting at, and still want to adjust them a little more on a hoist.

For the cost...have you considered just doing the boot floor if thats the obstacle?

i wonder how much they wiegh, comparing to standard arms, im putting my UC on a diet, but i want it to be (mostly) street legal. any one know the weight of standard arms and the McDonald Bros trailing arms, both uppers and lowers?

time for some research i think, rory you would want to keep your race car as lite as possible as well.

i just put some in an lj, i didnt actualy weigh them but there fairly close to teh same weight, perhaps the maccy bros lowers were a tiny bit lighter and the uppers a bit heavyer.

I can weight my McDonald Bros arms with super pro bushes tonight. I do not have a standard set of arms to weigh.

The McDonald Bros arms will be heavier than the standard arms, particularly the uppers.

I bought some adjustable upper trailing arms and tubular lowers from Rod Tech here in Adelaide.
They look very similar to the McDonald Bros ones but are much cheaper. :spoton:

I just realised that my trailing arms are at the workshop with my shell, I will not be able to weigh them until Saturday.

I would expect a steel tube to be stronger than a plated pressed arm if they both had the same quality steel and weighed the same.
