Hey 70rey, I've done the conversion.Very easy job.All you need is a set of engine mounts and sump from castlemaine rod shop.Goes straight in.No cutting.Ive also used stock vl radiator.

Dansedgli and Jap-xu1 are both also doing RB30 conversions, you could have a chat to them. They are both also photographing the progress

See if you can get a hold of Bart, he's around here somewhere. He's got a 2 door LJ with a RB30ET in it, I think it's all been pulled apart again.

Just out of curiosity, is 70REY your personalised plates? I've got very similar ones. :D

Yep. Im doing it as well. Using the rodshop engine mounts and sump it drops straight in.

I had to cut the lip off the firewall at the top with a grinder but other than that it was a straightforward job.

I know I could go and ask NVMYLH, but I may as well ask here because someone will know. You mention that CRS produce engine mounts and sump so that it fits strait in there (on LC/LJ), but do they do the same for LH/LX or UC if there's a bit of a difference?

Converting an early series one V6 from auto to manual is not as easy as it sounds as the crank is different (I believe that or the block), later engines were the same but not the early ones.

Hey Heath CRS say the engine mounts are the same for lc-lj and lh-lx prob even uc i'd say. I dont really know about CRS's sumps, if you have to equipment or know anybody who does, making your own isnt too hard. Theres my conversion atm (i'm a fair bit behind the others i think ;( Anyways, goodluck!

Thanks for the advice Craig, it sounds like a pretty cheap conversion now that I think about it... just gotta find a wrecked VL Turbo first. haha there are plenty of those around.

You should be able to buy the kit off crs & harness off castle auto so that you can do the majority of the work yourself to save a lot of money. If you get stuck you can always ask the people on this forum.
