A quick question for those of you in the know..
I am about to plop an m20 into my LC torrie.. but I'd like to use an LC center console and shifter boot...
Now I notice that the shifter boot in the LC - designed for the opel box - is smaller and a little off center. The LJ boot, however, - designed for m20/m21 boxes - is a bigger and centered. The difference isn't huge, but its enough to make me wonder if its purely cosmetic or if there are significant differences in position and clearance required between the two shifters.
Is the opel designed boot/console central enough for me to use with the m20 gearbox.
I dont want to spend all this cash restoring an LC console only to find the m20 doesn't have enough space to operate.

Providing the M20 shifter is top nick ie no slak in the connections you can just get away with it. You may find it will jam hard against the side.
However if you removed the alloy frame rfom around the shifter and made up a frame from thick plastic you could attach the lever boot in the same way as the LJ.
That way you do not destroy anything and you will get the extra movement to the right without any problem.
