Hey everyone,

I picked up a set of 17" mag wheels the other day to run slicks on my LC for track days and they fit perfectly except for the fact that on full lock they hit the swaybar/radius rod mount.

I was just wondering if anybody had come across this problem before and/or a way to rectify this problem, ie: is it possable to fit a bump stop for the steering or reduce the steering arm travle?

Cheers Matt

What offset?
How wide are the wheels.

Not sure on offset (they came off a volvo) 7.5" wide, they fit fine I just want to stop them hitting the swaybar.

Are you running XU-1 Style hubs/discs/brakes?

It wouldnt be safe to run spacers.

Yes XU1 thikness brake rotors, if I used spacers wide enough to fix the problem I think the wheels would hang outside the guards and I would need to fit longer studs.

What about adjustment in the steering?

If it is only hitting on the Swaybar mounts I'd put a different type of swaybar on - those factory style LC swaybars are one of the most useless arrangements I have seen anyway.

If it is hitting something more vital in your suspension, perhaps a hoppers brake kit will help - they move the wheels out about 8mm I believe and you get the brakes to fill the 17's at the same time.

It moves it out 18mm or 24mm. So the offset will be wildly different to anything "oldschool" (19-25p wheels).

I believe so.

LH-LX I think can still use lower offset wheels or bigger than 15" (modern) rims to clear the control arms - which I think is the only problem with using modern wheels on those.

thanks for all your help and options guys but as im only planning to use them every now and then for track days all im wanting to do is stop the wheels from turning so far as a reduced turning circle is not an issue.

So is there any way of limiting the turning circle?

Cheers Matt
