Also filled in the the trans hole - to start again...

Bonnet scoop turned up - very ordinary job. Will have to return it & try to source better quality else where. Might be time to try Wilsons...

...what on earth is it sitting on. Are they the wheels off some big old truck or something? I've never seen a WIP car sitting like that. But it's a bloody excellent idea; not relying on jacks or anything.

Rear ones are old truck rims, the front are truck brake drums. The drums also make excellent pot belly heaters!!

Battery tray. Darren just "knocked one up" I reckon he could sell these!
Posted Image

L/H hatch pillar. Darren tried the Rare Spares channel. The replacement peice is only the outer sill section, not the inner section. The bends are very blunt & it sticks out like dogs balls, so he will make the left side the same as he did the right.
Posted Image

Lowers corner peices fitted well.Posted Image

Have to start again with the flare kit. :furious:

Cheers.

so thats the verdict for the c pillars hey? did you contact rares about them after you found it to -

sticks out like dogs balls

i only ask as i WAS interested in buying but may leave it now and see how other people go with them, would have been good to see a photo of them sitting on there...to see exactly where the problem is

I'll get Darren to sit it on there & send me pic. He's pretty fussy about the parts he uses. If he thinks he can make it better than the manufactured part he will.

I prefer a "fussy" panel beater/Spray painter to one who doesnt care, you might pay more but you know you get a great job done in the end.

Although I do know of a painter who was to fussy, I know he has painted his torana 3 times as the paint didnt come up to perfection, (he had to point out the imperfections to me as I'll be buggered if I could see them) I'll have to find out if it was ever finished.

Love the truck rim/drums as stands too that is an excellent idea. Might have to look around work for some :)

Battery tray welded in.

Rare spares c pillar peice. Hard to see in this pic but the bend which is closest to the hatch is not as sharp as the original & with the hatch fitted you will notice the difference in the gap.

What if you cut the bend off and not use the entire peice, maybe a few inches shorter?

Just looking at all the rust repairs youv done makes me very happy im starting my rebuild with an execellent almost rust free body. So far ive only found a small hole abot 20 cent size in rear lower quarter. Good luck with your project.

Baz, we couldn't see bugger all rust when we started. I would hate to fix one where you could see bad rust externally.

I hope this shows the bend I meant that wasn't sharp enough. Missed a d in bend.

Here is the pillar that Darren has made.

Waiting for a Wilson flare kit to come now...
Rust in Hatch hinge area, not as bad as some.

Had a change of mind on g/box. Been talking to Mal Wood about a Tremec. Bloody expensive but. That or maybe a W58 Supra, but I'm not sure about the strength of this box.
looks like paint is going to be a yellow. Maybe the same as 1 Quick LJ below (nice colour :spoton: ), or Devil Yellow with black paintouts.
Posted Image

Panel beater tried very hard to convince us of the colour below, but it looks faded to me.

Its F*%d Blaze yellow. We nearly did it until we saw this charger. Glad we didn't.

Chow for now.

Good idea, never thought of bikes.

Yep, Darren likes his metal work. I wish a pat on the back was all it took!

I've spoken to Darren - he's too busy for battery trays atm.

Orderd the a tremec tko 500 this week (ouch!) & have started on the 355. I reckon another 6- 8 months & we might be somewhere close to driving it again.

Had to dig this ot of the archives!!

Some movement again.

Tremec has arrived so I can get the clutch & flywheel to Perth so they can be balanced with the crank, will also send up the w/pump, fuel pump etc so the engine can be dynoed when built.

Still waiting for the Wilson flare kit to arrive so the body work has stalled a bit until they arrive then we shouldn't be too far away from getting the car back.

We've been buiding a new parts/office showroom for our business & harvest is about to start, so we will be flatout from now until after xmas. The Torrie will have to go on the backburner again. We also hope to move house sometime after xmas & that will give me larger shed to work in. :spoton:

Interior still hasn't surfaced - it's only been 6 months, I suppose.

I haven't seen the dash peices since then either.

Got a brake kit from Datto! Looks the goods. Just need something to fit them to now!

Cheers.
