Bought an 2nd hand Accel billet alloy dizzy no. 71108E with coil and leads..

http://www.australia...Ingition_01.htm

now when it comes to elecs..I am dumb...do I run it off the std VN 304 silver box or do I have to buy a MSL 6A thing or something?..(Life was so much more simplier with points ignition!)

From my understanding this thing will trigger the coil just like a holden HEI, no need for a box.

Ofcourse you can not find anything for aussie U.S. stuff in the cattle dogs but from what i know ACCEL STREET BILLET PERFORMANCE ELECTRONIC BREAKERLESS DISTRIBUTOR

Ready to run, self-contained electronic breakerless design
ACCEL's new 12-volt breakerless 6.5 Amps dwell control module
CNC-machined billet 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum housing
Centerless ground steel shaft with upper and lower Oil Lite bushings
Easy access top mount fully adjustable and lockable mechanical
advance and nylon pads to insure long term smooth operation
Adjustable vacuum advance, with lockout insert for mechanical
advance only operation
Easy 3-wire hookup with isolate ground circuit and weather tight connector
Steel alloy drive gear, compatible with either flat tappet or
hydraulic roller camshafts
Race-proven high output magnetic pick assembly
Recommended electronic breakerless coils with 0.7 Ohms or less of
primary resistance;ACCEL p/n's; 8145, 8145C, 8140HV, 140001 & 140008
 Compatible with CD ignition systems

so you can run with or without a CDI.

Dont know about the BILLETPROOF thing tho.

Rory the dizzy will run by itself, using the MSD 6AL-aswell-will give you more spark and a rev limiter

I meant NOS told me to buy the Accel dizzy...not the MSD thingy.

I have the very same dizzy and a Crane electronic coil. And it has been nothing but a total joy compared to the Mallory dual point thingy that was in the car when I bought it.

Accel do have some instructions on their website Accel website that can be useful.

One does explain how to change things if you are going to use a CDI. And another - a warning about disconnecting it if anyone is going close to the car with a welder, like an exhaust dude.
