gday guys i want to relocate the battery too the boot because its going to take up too much room when the tripples go in.
so i just wanted to know how you guys that hav done it, did it and what are the regulations for doing this? (as in do you have to run the cabling outside the cab and stuff)

cheers

I think no one answered cause this has been discussed hunderds of times in different threads, here is some specific;

To answer some of your Q's, battery must be vented outside the car, you ever seen a battery tray rust, they dont want you breathing in them fumes, and cable can run anywhere, just ensure it is properly protected where it passes thru steel etc so its not sliced and earth out.
Its an idea to advertise that it is there via the blue triangle etc for emergency crews incase of an accident and most motor sports require you to have an isolator accessible from the outside of the car for these reasons.

In any case i think spending the extra cash and switching to a sealed gell type battery, optima etc, is a worthy investment if only for size and the spill proof advantage.
Hope this helps.

I've seen a lot of marine battery boxes in the boots of cars.
They look good are made of reasonably tough plastic but I'm not up on any state regulations re-venting.
Good luck.

ok the thanks for that alx. i thought it might be a common thing i was having a look through and couldnt find it so i just thought ill just ask the question again.

so basically you just need one of those plastic battery box jobies to wak you battery in and put rubber gromets in where you go though a panel with the cable.

thankyou.
Ben

Dont forget a good hold down bracket, and check with your rego/ race authorities for any finer details they may require.
Best your plastic box is vented to outside the car and not the boot.

Make sure you use some thick cable
The red cable in the link below is my battery cable wich runs along the chassis rail and into the boot

I much prefer plastic cable glands to rubber grommets when going through sheet metal with heavy current cable.

You can get them from most good electrical stores and they only cost a few bucks each.

i had dramas with power when i put the battery in my boot of my old tori, I ended up just zaping a new battery tray sideways in front of the tripples, no worries

This is a nice looking tray if you have an optima battery.
