Yup around $300 per Torana bar is what the going rate is, have yet to hear of anyone undercutting this amount. It seems like the chrome platers have agreed on a price ;)

powder coating would be heaps more durable and still pretty cheap, i reckon about $50 a bar max, as a mag whel is only $30-$40.....

Moot, can I just suggest maybe you put your location in your signature or let people know what area you are in? It's hard to recommend someone if you don't know what area you live in

Cheers

I did an exchange on my rear one. I dug out my receipts and it was $190 - that is from about 8 years ago so it is sure to have changed though. Panel beater organised it for me and I am pretty sure he did it through rare spares (don't quote me on this it's testing my memory going back to when she was done)?????
If your getting quotes for $300 it could be worth you looking into this option. I'm happy with mine. I am pretty sure when she was out the other week there was some rust marks on it but in the past they have been on top of the chrome and just polished off so when I get around to giving her some love and care I am sure this will be the case again.

Give Vinnies a call, they are in Dandy Vic 039794 7530

i think the $300 includes them straightening your bumper as well. But im not 100% sure. Ring around and find whats best for you... Not sure what Rares ones set you back, but you might be able to get a discount from Rares... We got 10% for RACV membership today..

at my work we restore lots of cars and chrome cost is different prices depends what kind of job you want most people get the bars done and say chrome this for me and thats what you get but we get the bars copper plated and file and sand with file paper board to get out imperfections most platters just buff the bars etc so take time to get them to strip the old chrome off and get it copper plated and fix dents etc you will find them when sanding the copper thats if you want perfect chrome? :spoton:

ok,i have taken by bars to All metal bars at ingelburn in sydney.they are going the whole hog and welding up all the holes and even the ones for the bolts that hold them to the brackets.they'll be welding studs on the insides of the bars for the brackets to mount to,so i'll have boltless, holeless bumpers.and the number plate light is gone too

i also have given them my gutter moulds, headlight surrounds, metal grill bits, bonnet hinges, door handles et etc to get re-done.

so everything should be like new

AFAIK all metal bumper contract all their work out, and I heard that it was to someone in Vic.

The LC tailight surrounds are cast and lots of places won't touch them. I have used Electro Plating Technology in Queanbeyan to do lots of die cast stuff for my '59 FC Holden and the quality is spot on. They even fill pitting and the results are amazing.

The bars on my XU1 came from Vinnies in Melbourne and are great quality.

Cheers,

Craig.
