Yes it is certainly a great feeling when you eventually nut out all the problems in your car and finally get to enjoy it. I have just realised the same dream...Good work fellar

done a few other little bits and pieces,
Put a nitrous kit in, made up some brackets to mount the solenoids at the back of the carby so they arent in plain sight, the activation switch is mounted on the firewall under the accelerator pedal and mounted the bottle behind the passenger seat where the old one used to be. plan is to run a 150shot straight off the trans brake at 5500 and see if it starts the party of just leave a pile of shit behind... time will tell
if anyones keen to see how the big magnafuel 500 was mounted i pulled the diff out and took some pics
so the pump is now recessed up into the spare wheel well and all enclosed. its still close to the diff but it doesnt touch anymore.
The diff i had chopped about 2" either side again to accommodate a new wheel, while it was out i sorted the shock location points
welded a ring to prevent the drain plug being trashed and also double as a better jacking point.
had the axles cut and re splined until i can afford a pair of billet ones.
gave it a squirt with 2pac gloss and put it together.
put it all back in the car and found one of the axle flanges was welded in upside down, took it back to the shop that done the job and they sorted it within 4hrs. bit of a hickup but everyone makes silly mistakes.
Rear end all in and back together, made up some new brake lines to suit
The rear wheels are a Weld V-series 15x8 3"b.s (255/60 tyre)
And something totally different upfront nobody ive seen yet has this rim, as everyone runs Black magnums or alumastars,
I chose to go with the new Weld 17" Polished "Full Throttle" front runner. (185/55 tyre)
Im happy how the car looks, its a Massive change from the Convo pro's but ive had the 12years and felt a change is as good as a holiday,
saying that i might be on a holiday when Wifey see's ive put new wheels on without her knowing
when ive got the opportunity ill put some better pics up when its out in the daylight.

Got the car together and went for a drive the rear end shook like mad and scrubbed the RH rear tyre sidewall on the inner guard. upon closer inspection i found the "good" second hand axle i was supplied wasn't so good, the axle was bent at the face, I had to buy another axle due to the one i had someone had turned down the shaft after the original spline therefore not leaving any meat for another re spline
so pulled it all apart AGAIN measured up and the money i made back from the convo pro's that was meant to be saved has now gone to a new pair of Altra9 Billet axles.
they are a brisbane based company and the turn around time was 2 days delivered so definitely recommend them!
$1090 delivered Bolt in and go. New bearings, retainers, seals and 1/2"x 3" studs.
as much as i would have liked to gone 31 spline i couldn't justify having to buy another centre for the sake of 3 splines.
heres a pic of the difference of stock V billets.
I'm sure if the standard HQ Axles of 40+ years old held upto 5000rpm trans brake skids these will sure take the heat too.
heres a couple of pics of the car out in some day light.
I've lowered the front 1.5" so its doesn't look like its squatting so hard in the arse.
i know 17's aren't everyones cup of tea but my build my choice, anyone that knows me knows i like to do things different.
pretty much everyone thats seen it has really liked the new look, even a few 15" purist guys have given the thumbs up.
Now to finish up the next little piece on the car, stay tuned

17's still look sweet it's only when see low profile front then big sidewall rear tyre does it look weird.
That looks balanced out nicely & completely changed the car.
Curious if you have any type of filter in tank sump pre-pump?

so i got tired of the bolt on scoop and decided a full moulded cowl would finish it off.
unbolted the old scoop and welded up the holes
at the same time i thought the hacked out centre support brace looked like shit so i completely cut it out
made up a couple of fill in pieces welded in place to make the bonnet support frame look somewhat standard again.
the scoop i purchased for a "Torana" fell 2" short of where i actually wanted it so i chopped curved sections out of the old scoop, glassed them into the rear section and re shaped it.
had a couple of mates help out to glue it down and smooth it out.
Drove the car to the workshop on a saturday morning after the underside of the bonnet was painted so we could fit it up and mask up ready for the top section to be painted.
was priceless sitting at traffic seeing the look on peoples faces
spent some hours last weekend with a mate helping him chase out any imperfections in the high fill and blocking back.
gave the guards and nose cone a rub back
fit the bonnet and masked up ready for some colour
he had a booth hired and painted it up monday morning scuttle panel, guards and nose were re sprayed and blended in.
by tuesday night i had the top coat was blocked back
and wednesday/thursday was on the buff taking turns for hours .
Finally sunday we had a break in the weather, so Suns out Guns out!
Id like to say the car is finally finished…… at this point in time, unless something blows up/breaks
now after 13 years of knock downs and get ups, I'm just gonna enjoy it and hunt down that 10second pass soon!
Then i've got the 4 door to get stuck into next, and the LH resto.

yeah yeah finished…. I might retract that sooner than later, Sunday arvo my mate let me drive his LX with a twin turbo 408 LS punching 1062hp at the treads. lets just say at 130kph easing it on burning up a 15x12 full slick not even half throttle was infrOcken-sane. id be happy with half that power figure
as for the flares comment. Jog on mate

cheers to everyone thats taken time to comment, appreciated
I'm proud as punch with how its all panned out.
Bigfella237-
Heres a crappy phone pic of the underside with paint on. it literally took me about an hour to cut and make up the fill in pieces which makes it look stock standard to the untrained Torana eye
