I have been using 100 RON shell since it came to Canberra, In my Torana (has 11.7 to 1 Comp) it runs on a bit when you turn it off, but cant here any pinging. In my monaro, it has an edit with an agressive tune, it pings a little. Not much difference to 98 Caltex which I find next best.

Someone said something about octane booster?

I have a magazine somewhere here that did a test on about 10 or so octane boosters. cant remember which magazine but... so most of what im saying is off memory, someone here would have read it!!

The results were that about 8 of them actually DECREASED the octane by about 1 or 2 points. and the couple that did increase octane, it was only by about 0.5 of a point anyway.

It might be worth reasearching them a bit better before tuning your car to run with it. you could be tuning your car to run on 2 points lower octane...

Yeah, I've got that mag at home here somewhere. Just don't ask me to look for it this year. Too many other things more important.

Yeah every time I have used those octane boosters I didnt notice any difference what so ever. I notice 95 to 98 RON. Might have to try doubling the mixture to try and get something out of it.

Better off filling up with the Optimax Extreme, works out cheaper.

If you double the dose of an octane booster that lowers your RON.... your only gonna get an even lower RON. and even if you do have one of the 'rare' brands that raise the RON, it only raises the ron by 2 parts of f*** all.
The amount you would spend using double dosage octane booster would hardly be worth the 0.8 boost you get... if your lucky...

Just go to Bankstown Airport and buy Avgas.... I think you can get like 110 ron up to 140 or something....

I dont like running Av on the street. I use it for the occasional 1/4 run, but that�s about it.

I think the optimax extreme would have to be the closest thing to Av. I hate pinging!
