Hey.
Ive seen 2 sorts of top wishbone pivot shafts in cars & on K frames
lying around the wreckers, 1s with a rounded deveation to clear the subframe
& flatter/straighter type 1s like LH/X or HQ/Z. Only ask as bloke who pressed
my bushes in said theyre LH (he also pressed my outrigger bushes in
backwards & bictched when I asked for them to be corrected)
Were the flat 1s an XU1 thing?
My 73s front end was untouched when I pulled it out for a rebuild & has
the flat pivot shafts, & another complete frontend I have also has the
flatter type shafts (saw this 1 in a rack of LC/J, HTGK subframes & saw
reinforced lwr arms, 2 sets top pivot holes, wrecker sold it to me as
stock 6 front) but Ive seen stock 6 cyl frontends with the flat 1s too.
Were the flatter 1s LJ & rounded 1s LC?
While on front ends, both my XU1 subframes have a couple of small
cracks in xactly the same spot, around where the outrigger arm
reinforcing brackets that are spot welded to the xmember, both sides
& only underneath on the edge of the bracket from memory. Ive welded
up the 1 in the car & once ground & painted cant see a thing.
Gotta xpect a little fatigue after 30 odd years & what they were intended
for I spose!
Anyone else come across these cracks?
Cheers Jono
