Wouldn't an Edelbrock Performer be alright for a setup like this? Then you don't have the problem of tuning three seperate carbs (I don't really know how to do a decent tune, but it's something that I assume would be a nightmare). Or if that doesn't flow enough, Quaddie?

I believe to get the best potential out of a straight 6, using tripple carbs would be better. you see when you have a single carb in the middle the no.1 and no.6 cylinders are bound to run leaner than the no.3 and no.4 due to the distance the air/fuel has to travel, where as the tripple carbs when set up properly will distrubite the air/fuel evenly

Gday,
sorry for the late replys fellas,as my computers not working at the moment. The new motors been built and it will hopfully be ready to go to the strip in 2 weeks. The cylinder head has professionaly ported by Warflow cylinder heads in my home town gladstone qld,im not sure of the cfm per cylinder figures but is meant to flow around the 300hp mark.I've ditched the 4 barrel and auto for the webers off drag lc's torana and are also using a 3 spd manual box. The reason for using the 3 speed was the diff ratio is 4.3 and 1st gear in a 3spd is very close to 2nd in a m22,so therefore is 1 less gear change at the strip and 2nd in the 3spd is the same as 3rd in the m22.

cheers peter

gday.
i took my torana to the drags on the weekend, was quite happy with the performance of the old girl. It managed to run a 12.90 @ 101mph with the new engine and different setup. Didn't end up having a race with drag lc as his grenaded before we got a chance, which was sad to see. I did notice when racing the torana, i had the rev limiter set to 7000rpm and in the burnout the motor would rev up 2 6800 really fast but wouldn't quite get 7000. i thought nothing of it and kept racing but a bit before the end of the track i ran out of revs as it was doing a maximum of 6800 and no more,so 101mhp was as fast as it went all night. Got back to the pits and shifted the limiter up 2 7200, but the same thing happened and it would only get 6800 again. i think theres a bit more of a problem lurking. Im still using a points dizzie with a digital 7 plus msd box triggering the points? so maybe its the points arnt upto the task or the valve springs are shagged?? cheers peter

i got mine down to the drags finaly on friday night. but of cause it had problems. the car has made 108.8 rwkw ( std186 ported 9 port head triple 1 3/4 su's and a farely generous cam std dizzy to) hadent had a problem until friday when it would get to about 4 grand in second and would start missing bad not like a fouled plug because it would only do it top end second gear. all i could manage was a 15.7. im guessing its the dizzy.

gmlj6, i have a trans brake trimatic in the shed now but just wanted to give the manuals a bit of a go first, the manual g/box is the go of the line with it on the limiter with slic tyres. yeh i am going back to the strip this month aswell.
